"Why Goddess indeed.."
Phoebe jolted at the unexpected voice, her back pressing firmly against the door she had just exited through. She had been hidden away for so long, only brought out for big events or readings, so she wasn't used to hearing unfamiliar voices.
"High Priestess! This gentleman is Sir Leon McKnight of Bloodlake Pack. He is their Beta, and requests an audience with you," Poor Alaina was flushed a dark red, having not expected Phoebe to return from her meeting with the Alpha so soon.
"I.." Phoebe herself was flabbergasted, as she had never been put in such a position. However, she knew she had to present herself in a way that would bring honor to her pack. Her back straightened, and her chin lifted.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Beta Leon. My Alpha will be overjoyed to hear that you made it here safely." A dainty hand reached out for a friendly shake, not expecting the warmth that enveloped her skin when it was accepted by the male. A warm, friendly touch.. It had been a long time since she'd experienced something of the sort.
"The pleasure is all mine, I must be very lucky to run into the Goddess's messenger. Would you call this fate?"
"Beta Leon!"
Ah, the door had opened behind the priestess and out came the person she detested the most.
"Are these women being a nuisance to you, Beta Leon? I gave them orders, and I'm sure they stopped what they were doing to gawk at you. Come in my office, we can have someone bring you a cup of tea while we discuss tonights plans,"
Leon was typically sent out on these expeditions due to his high tolerance of people like Alpha Axel, who couldn't help but make an ass of themselves. For this reason, Leon swallowed the words forming in his head and smiled, placing himself between Phoebe and the Alpha.
"I requested an audience with the High Priestess, she is the one I am here to see. I did not realize I was stopping her from doing something. I offer you my apologies, Alpha Axel." His voice was sweet, though Phoebe could tell he was cunning. No one smiled at her ass of an Alpha like that unless they were sucking up, or had ulterior motives.
"Well, your audience with her will come in due time. She is very busy, and in no state to hold an audience with someone such as yourself. I mean.. Look at her," Axel muffled a laugh, making it obvious that this was an attempt to ridicule the girl.
Phoebe glared at him, though couldn't help the urge to want to curl up. Her arms came up to hug herself as she turned her head away. Oh, if only the earth could just swallow her up in this moment, she'd find it more bearable than the situation at hand..
"I would think a messenger directly from the Goddess is always in her prime. I believe I am the one that is in no state to hold audience with her." Leon flashed his pearly whites in Phoebe's direction, causing her to blush like no one's business. This man was definitely smooth.. Which was another sign of a dangerous man.
"Beta Leon, please. Let us continue speaking in the office or I fear their work will never be done," Ah, Axel's patience was starting to thin. With a shrug of his shoulders, Leon turned to enter the office, though he did steal one last glance at Phoebe with those chocolatey eyes that could melt an iceberg.
Phoebe was in a trance, her heart beating out of her chest for the entire duration of that interaction, and then some. No one had ever spoken to her like that, ever. Affection, or kindness, was not something the blessed girl had experienced. Only awe, and adoration from those that believed her to be a piece of the Goddess herself.
To be fair, he wasn't *affectionate* per say, but he was kind, and treated her like a person. They even shook hands.. And his touch was so, so very warm, she felt as though she may have held onto him longer if she didn't have better judgment of the situation.
"Shall we proceed, High Priestess?" Alaina finally managed to bring herself to say something, not wanting to snap Phoebe out of her trance.
"Yes, I want to go and get ready for tonight. It is very important that I make a good impression tonight." Phoebe brought herself to her escort's side and smiled. "I believe fate will be on my side."
