How They Met Again

Lia woke up with the sunlight hitting her right in the face. It took her a few moments to adjust to the light. She saw Karl still sleeping on the seat next to her. "He looks so cute when he's asleep," she thought to herself. She had fallen asleep on his shoulder and somehow as romantic as it sounds, it wasn't very comfortable. She opened her car door to step outside.

As she was about to leave, Karl gently held her by the wrist and in a sleepy yet sexy voice he said, "You aren't gonna leave me so soon...are you?" "Of course not Karl my legs are hurting from all the sleeping we did last night," she said winking at him.

"Come on Lia, I need to get going. In gonna miss the meeting I had today." "Don't worry we will get you there in time. Come home I'll ask Chloe to get your clothes. She'll make breakfast too. She is my assistant, but I like to call her as mom 2.0. She practically spoon feeds me everything." 

After a fifteen minute drive, they reached Lia's penthouse. "You sure live in a mansion. Damn Lia your house is so pretty," Karl said wide eyed. "Thanks Karl, although it can get pretty lonely in there with just me and Chloe." Your parents don't live with you?" Karl asked frowning. "They actually live an hour away. I moved here because it was closer to my work and also I need to give them some space, what kind of a person with a job lives with their parents?" "Excuse me! I live with my parents." Karl said frowning. "I'm sorry! I- I didn't mean to say that." "Relax Lia, I'm messing with you. I do live with my parents but only because they were pretty adamant on not letting me leave. They can be a bit too protective to be honest. So tell me more about yourself."

"First, you must know, Lia is short for Alia. That's what people call me back in India. My parents are not very conservative, they are pretty chill, but my relatives, the ones back in India are the most judgemental kind you will ever meet. Also I'm pretty sure you know about my work, Mr. Lee must have told you. And I have to leave for work in about another 45 minutes so I must get going. Chloe will give you anything you need you can go get a bath in the guestroom."

After getting ready and having a nice pancake breakfast, Lia and Karl both hurried off to work and decided to see each other in the evening. After a long day of work, Lia saw Karl waiting outside her hospital to pick her. "Hey Karl I didn't expect you to come. How was your day?" "Oh, the usual, I had this meeting with a guy who was trying to get me to invest in his weird business idea involving an app that lets you design your funeral." "I'm so sorry you had through sit through that. Although I would love to choose how I wish to depart." "Yeah Lia but not when he wants a million dollars from you. Anyways, wanna go grab a bite?" "Sure, I could do with a cheeseburger."

They went through the Mcdonald's drive through talking about their day when Karl received a call. 

"Hang on Lia, it's my mom." "Hi mom, I just got out of work will be home in some time. What! Oh my God how on earth did he- never mind I'll be there in 10 minutes." Lia I'm sorry I have to be home. My dad has some how managed to fall from a step ladder and has broken his foot." "Wait Karl, I'll drive you." "Lia do you think you should meet my mom? Like isn't it a bit too early?" Karl asked. "Karl your dads foot is more important." she replied.
