Oddly Enough

No one's POV:

Tom opened his eyes, simply laying in a bed he was not familiar with. Instead of getting up and getting his head straight, he just stayed there. He kept his eyes half lidded. He debated whether he should get up, or try to fall back asleep. This ended taking him about 20 minutes before he concluded that he was going to get ready for the day.

His feet touched the cold floor as he walked up to the bedroom door. He twisted the doorknob and opened the door. He went downstairs to find Tord sleeping on the couch. "Guess it wasn't a dream..." Tom thought. For Tom, it was safe enough to assume he slept in Tord's bedroom. He looked around, trying to look for the phone he used to play music with. It was beside Tord's sleeping body. "That won't be so difficult." Tom said in his head.

Because Tom read books and stories. If this situation he was in was in some kind of romance story, Tord would be awake, or he'd pull Tom in while still in deep sleep. Tom knew that was bullshit. Even if that was to happen, he can just easily explain or just apologize. Then it'd be as good as over.

He reached over to his phone, Tord not reacting whatsoever. Tom couldn't help but feel a bit happy that he was right about the romance stuff being untrue. He unlocked his phone and scrolled through his phone, hoping to find something to pass the time. He figured he could just play games, which was always a good option.

After playing a few games, Tom decided he should post something on his Instagram. He barely posted anything there, let alone even use the app. He used the camera and took a selfie, that included Tord sleeping on the couch. He posted it with the captions, "Meh." and no hashtags. He didn't know why it was important.

He decided things were too boring and went back to Tord's room. Not to sleep, but to maybe examine it a bit. Just a bit. He found a few photos of Tord when he was young. But at that very moment, Tord came in the room. He looked a bit surprised finding Tom looking through his childhood photos.

Tord sat beside Tom on the bed and said, "Good morning." Tom replied with the same words. "Looking through my personal stuff, eh? " Tord said with no negativity. Tom couldn't tell, and proceeded to panic. " Oh! I- uhm. Just wanted to do something that was interesting so I-" Tord cut him off to say, "Pfft- I was just teasing." Tom let out a relieved sigh and went back to looking through childhood photos.

"You looked so innocent back then..." Tom said without realizing it. "Oh? Are you saying I don't look innocent now?" Tord questioned. "Yeah. You look more handsome than cute." Tom said not taking his eyes off the photos. Tord's eyes widened. But after a few seconds, his expression changed to a smug look. "Wish I could say the same thing to you." Tord replied to Tom's compliment.  Tom looked at Tord with a offended face. "Hey! That's just straight up insulting!" Tom yelled but not too loud. "You don't look handsome," Tord paused before continuing his sentence.

"infact, you look cute."

Tom didn't know how to react. "Is this what friends do? Flirt? Maybe in a joking way... " Tom thought. Tom laughed it off and replied "Thanks!"  while smiling. Tord felt happy with the reaction he got. Tom didn't go tsundere mode on him or punch him. They continued telling short stories about their lives and even flirt. Tom meant it as a joking way. Tord knew that, but he knew the compliments Tom gave him were honest.

Strangely, Tom stayed there until afternoon. He and Tord had bonded so much he felt he knew him for months. Yes, not years. But anyway, Tom told Tord he had to go and Tord waved him off. Tom ran to his house, with shoes on if you're wondering. He went straight to his bed and took out his phone. Going to his contacts and texting Tord. Now they have each other's numbers not just for tutoring.

Tom felt somewhat tired. It was only the afternoon and he felt this way. He decided maybe it was time to go visit Matt. He needed to spend an equal amount of time with his friends. He showered and changed his clothes to a black shirt with ripped jeans. He went outside and ran to Matt's house and knocked. Fortunately it was Matt that answered the door. "Oh! Hey Tom! What are you here for?" Matt said with a bit of excitement in his tone.

"Hey Matt! Just wanted to hang out with you. Is that alright?" Tom replied. Matt eagerly nodded and escorted Tom to his home. They both sat on the couch and Matt brought out a few games and game consoles. He smiled at Tom and asked, "Which game do you want to play?" Tom stared at the options and decided on a competitive game. Competitive games were fun. Games that didn't give you some kind of goal was useless, in Toms opinion at least.

Him and Matt played for who knows how many hours until they decided to take a break. Matt brought Tom to his room. He made Tom sit on the bed and he did too after. He brought out a mirror and gave it to Tom. "Here! A mirror! You've been a great friend and I want you to know that by giving you an opportunity to admire yourself." Tom knew Matt had a lot of mirrors, a lot of them were just spares incase one broke. But this was the first gift Matt ever gave to Tom.

"Thanks Matt, I appreciate it" Tom said that with complete honesty. Matt smiled in return and they began talking about certain topics. Actors, their future, their dreams. Things like that. As Tom talked with Matt, he couldn't help but feel lucky to have such a life. He always had problems in the past and used to stress about them, but they always ended up not as horrible had he imagined. He tried believing he was just another human being and that God wouldn't give him a happy ending to his problems.

But sometimes, it's hard to believe it.

AGH, FINALLY. 1000+ WORDS. I CAN STOP. Anywaaaaay, sorry if this seemed rushed- it's because it was. But heeeeyyy, I did it! Anyway, I'll post a chapter every month, and maybe earlier if I'm in the mood.
