Lin finds out their non-binary because I can :) (starts out with she/her pronouns)
Ages: Kya: 21 Lin: 19 Tenzin: 19 Pema: 15
Lin sat on kyas bed venting to the water bender for the second time this week, but this time it was somthing she hadn't dared to bring up before, she had planned on keeping these feelings a secret forever, but it was becoming to much. "I don't wanna be a girl" Lin finaly said saddened by kyas shocked face
"so you're a guy, thats fine" Kya said after a second
"I don't wanna be a guy either" Lin said flopping back on the bed followed by kya a moment later
"So you're non-binary" Kya sugested
"what's that?" Lin asked
"it's not identify as a girl or boy, most use they/them pronouns but you can use what ever you're comfortable with" Kya explaned
Lin thought for a minute "I wanna be that"
"so do you want me to use they/them pronouns for you, or are you gonna keep using she/her or maybe neo's?"
"I wanna use they/them" Lin said but then hesetated "what if Tenzin thinks I'm weird?"
"then he's stupid" Kya answered and Lin chuckled "but seriusly if he says anything dumb, or breaks up with you just because of how you identify, I will personaly beat him up" Kya said rolling over to face Lin who soon did the same.
"thanks, you understand this stuff alot more then me" Lin chuckled
"of course, you're an amzing person" Kya smiled and Lin suddenly relized how close they were. There was barly two inches between them. Kya's eyes glanced twards Lins lips and Lin couldnt help but do the same, Lin glanced twards Kyas lips again and almost leaned in before abrutly sitting up.
"I should probably tell Tenzin" Lin said sheepishly
"you don't have to rush to tell people, whenever you're comfortable" Kya said sitting up also
"I know but I spend alot of time around Tenzin and I don't wanna be called a girl a bunch" Lin said and Kya nodded before Lin left.
Lin walked around the temple looking for Tenzin before finding him outside sitting with an acolyte. "Hey Lin" Tenzin waved at her
"Hi Tenzin can I talk to you?" Lin asked
"yeah of course" Tenzin said but didn't move or ask the acolyte to leave
"In private" Lin said
"Oh sure, sorry Pema could you leave for a bit?" Tenzin asked and the acolyt shot Lin a glare before leaving. "So what did you wanna talk about?"
"I'm not a girl, I identify as non-binary and want you to use they/them pronouns for me" Lin said.
Tenzin didn't react for a bit before an angry look grew on his face and he yelled; "this is why I don't like you hanging out with Kya she puts all these dumb ideas in your head. non-binary isn't a fucking thing, you're a girl!" Lins face grew shocked and she ran back to kyas room. Once she got to Kyas room she quickly got in and slammed the door behind her.
"Sorry," Lin said before bursting into tears.
"That bad?" Kya asked getting up from her bed and wrapping Lin in a loose hug. Lin buried her face in Kya neck continueing to cry, kya was the once person that Lin trusted to see them so vurable. "what did he say?" Kya asked after Lin had calmed down but still didn't break the hug.
"He said that non-binary isn't a thing and I'd alwasy be a girl, I know its new and all even to me but I'm finaly comforatble with my gender, and he just had to ruin that" Lin sniffled
"I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's a piece of shit, and you're to good for him." Kya said and felt lin smile softly into her neck.
"I'm sorry" Lin said again
"why are you sorry you have nothing to apoligize for" Kya said and set her hands on Lin's shoulders
"I've been so hung up on Tenzin I didn't relize the person who cares about me most is right in front of me" Lin said with a little smile looking up at kya.
Kya smiled back but couldn't find anything to say so she pulled Lin in for a kiss and Lin kissed back.
Not sure if I like this but i've seen a bunch of storys with nb Lin so I thought why not since its non-binary pride day today :)
