A large black mass stood before me. I didn't trust this form, being as it was far more dangerous than the last. Subconsciously my stance shifted forward, half testing half curious. I would be lying if I were to say I wasn't intrigued. Here I thought I was alone in my ability, yet the contradiction to that very thought stood before me.
He made no effort to move as I crept forward and circled him. He seemed to be very well adapted, comfortable with his form. The likeness between him and one of a wolf was far too similar to be purely chance. Still, the longer I deciphered his form, the more I started noticing the differences.
He was slightly larger than a normal wolf, surpassing my height by a few inches. Wisdom accented his face, but what stood out the most was his pelt, a dead give away. Any human looking upon this wolf would be able to tell. No ordinary wolf would reflect the sun like he did. It glinted off his fur in almost a blinding manner.
Agitated I let out a low growl. Standing before him I looked him dead center, in the eyes.
"You change," I snapped. I'm not quite sure how I did it, possibly it was through the mind, but I managed to make communication.
He returned the growl, "I asked you first,"
"Okay okay! don't get your panties in a twist," I began to slowly move to my clothes sitting across the clearing.
I made my voice soothing, calming, not unlike a mother speaking to a child. "relax. I'm just going to get my clothes, go behind a tree, and shift."
I kept my pace tediously even. I had to gain his trust or I knew he might try something. Whether it would be alerting the Alfa or attacking, I wasn't about to find out. Grabbing my clothing between my teeth, I continued to make my way behind a nearby tree.
I scoffed in my head. Dimwitted this one is. Certainly easy to manipulate. Just as the thought crossed my mind, I broke into a dead sprint. Although I was smaller in size, I was hoping my form had more of a head start in the speed department. I guess I would find out. I was never one to underestimate my opponent, I wasn't about to start now.
All the while sprinting, I kept my ears alert, trying to gain information on the standings of my little friend. After an hour it became clear that he had not had intention to follow.
I knew my smell would linger long after my departure. I didn't really have a strong desire to lead him straight to my home. I back tracked, finding a nearby stream. The water was freezing; if I where human I would surely have gotten hypothermia. However, this was a necessary sacrifice. The chilling waters would hide my sent well.
By the time I managed to drag myself in the house, the sun was setting in the horizon. I sighed, another night without doing my homework. I had a feeling that I was starting to get a bad habit.

I had to be smart about this, evasive. My goal, was to keep a certain someone from realizing that it was me in the forest. There was a small possibility that he had only seen the change or maybe just my back. I kept my eyes averted while walking in the halls, never asked questions, never drew attention to myself. I'm just a teenage girl, trying to get to class.
I only broke cover once:
"Grace?" I asked, "whose that guy over there?" Pointing to my wolf friend, with his back turned. I wouldn't have risked it normally, but I knew the chatter of the lunch room would drown out my voice.
Grace giggled. "That's Harrison, the varsity quarterback."
I didn't say anything, just observed. He threw his head back laughing at some joke his friend told. I sighed, he was attractive, ill give him that.
Grace watching the whole scene, interrupted. "I get it," she said with a smirk, "you like him!"
I choked. "Him? No! Why would I like a selfish pig like Harrison? Even if he is hot," I turned back to him, startled to find his head whipped in my direction. Shit! He heard me.
I averted my eyes, and continued on with my day. Walking home I sighed in relief. I had made it without confrontation. A horn beeped. I kept trudging along.
"Sophie!" Harrison called out, "want a ride?"
I paused, "do I know you?"
"I know who you are, what you are."
"And I don't know what you're talking about" I kept my voice monotone.
"Don't deny it. Your scent is the same. Did you forget that you spoke with your mind? I'd recognize your voice anywhere. Get in or I'll follow you the rest of the way home." He warned.
I rolled my eyes and kept walking. I don't care if I had to walk to Texas in the pouring rain. He couldn't prove anything. I'm not getting in the car with him.
"Wow stalk much? I don't even know you!" I protested.
He started laughing, "Well I know you think I'm hot."
I gasped, that jerk had been listening to my whole conversation. I should have known better. He pulled a straight face. Ooh shit just got serious, I mocked in my mind.
"Get in or I'm telling the alpha, and everyone will know your secret."
I groaned. Shit did get serious.
"Blackmail. Very classy," I commented, reluctantly getting into the car.
