As they came to a halt Eldrin's eyes immediately started darting around the room, trying to find the prince. But the room was now so full of people that he couldn't spot him. He squinted his eyes a bit as he began to worry, now desperately looking around the many faces. He suddenly noticed that there weren't many guards around, the only ones he could spot being right next to him and the princess. His heart started beating faster as he kept looking around the room. "Eldrin what is it?" The princess asked looking at his tensed features. Without taking his eyes away from the dancefloor he said, "I apologize your Highness, but I am trying to find the prince, I left him out of my sight for a bit and now I cannot seem to spot him again. I deeply apologize." He tried to sound as calm as possible. In the corner of his eye, he saw how the princess now also turned towards the dancing pairs. "I think I saw him somewhere over there before we came here. But Eldrin it's not that important. My brother will be alright. What will possibly happen to him on a ball? So stop worrying and talk with me instead otherwise I'm getting bored again." As she spoke the words she first pointed to the other side of the room before turning towards him again. He let his gaze wander around in the direction that she pointed at, trying to at least spot the golden locks or the red velvet, but with no luck. He knew that he couldn't search any longer in order to not upset the princess. Of course she didn't care about her brother, she never really did. Even though everything in him screamed not to, he turned away from the pairs and towards the princess, again putting on a smile.

"I am..."Eldrin started as suddenly all the windows and doors of the room burst open letting a strong cold wind inside. He immediately turned around looking at the entrance, but no one was there. Then slowly the room got darker and darker as the wind blew out the candles. In no time the room would be completely dark. Luckily there were guards close to him and the princess. "Get the princess out of here, now!" he shouted towards them. "Eldrin what is happening?" she asked, she didn't sound scared just confused. Eldrin turned towards her. "I don't know but I don't think it is safe here anymore. Your Highness needs to stay with the guards and get somewhere safe." He quickly said already turning towards the middle of the room. The guests were visibly confused, shouting and running around. How could he let it get so far, he knew that something was going to happen. Before he could go and start searching for the prince, he felt someone grab his arm. He turned and saw that the princess was holding onto him. "Eldrin come with me." She said looking into his eyes and despite it being dark he noticed that she seemed worried. This was the last thing he could need right now. "Your Highness doesn't need to be afraid. The guards are trained to keep the royal family safe. They will protect your Highness." He said trying to sound as friendly as possible while hurrying. "But will you be safe?" she then asked. The question took Eldrin by surprise. So the princess wasn't worried about herself but about him? At first, he didn't know how to react. But there was no time for him to think about it too much, so he put on a smile and quickly said, "I will be alright. Your Highness shouldn't worry about me. What matters most now is that your Highness is safe. I will be back in no time." She nodded and let go of him, walking to the guards, who surrounded her and led her out.

Eldrin started to run to where he hoped the prince was. It was now nearly completely dark and the guests around him were panicking. They were pushing and shouting. Eldrin's heart was beating very fast as he was desperately looking around trying to make out the prince. "Your Highness!" Eldrin shouted as loud as he could over the scared screams of the guests. He tried to make out the prince's voice but with no luck. Fear started to crawl up inside his body, as he pushed his way through the crowd, trying to find just the smallest sign of the prince. "Your Highness!" he shouted again feeling more and more helpless. "Eldrin!" suddenly he heard it, a faint voice to his left. As fast as he possibly could he surged into the direction from which he heard the voice. "Eldrin!" he heard again, now louder and closer. "Your Highness!" he shouted back. And then suddenly he saw him, his blue eyes shimmering in the little light that was left, looking around, the black-haired girl close to him. Eldrin felt a sense of relief as he finally came to a halt before the prince who seemed to be just as relieved to see him.
