My Roommate

(1) new roommate

A girl hummed along to the song playing on the radio "morning sleepy head" she turned to face her roommate who walked out while attempting to put on her shorts pushing up her glasses "...." getting no response in return the girl looked around the room finding what she was looking for on the coffee table.

"Lucretia" the green-haired girl's roommate called noticing her roommate who held out the girl's hearing aids "thank you" after the bluenette placed them on her ear Lucretia wished her good morning once again "ah sorry I didn't hear you morning Lucretia" the girl rubbed the back off her head sheepishly.

The two girls sat next to each other on their kitchen island bench eating their breakfast "so have you got everything packed Lu?" the other girl looked up at the younger girl "yeah I'm all packed and ready to move out" she bit into a piece of her pancake "I'm done" the bluenette announced grabbing her plate.

Lucretia watched the girl with blue hair who'd been her roommate for the last 5 years now if the girl was being honest she was worried about leaving the girl alone not only because she was deaf well that was a concern since if someone decided to break in she wouldn't even know but her primary concern the younger woman's safety "Meriel I'll miss you" the green-haired girl finally said "I'll miss you too Lu" Meriel spared her roommate a smile.

Meriel rushed toward the coffee shop she worked at, occasionally checking her watch to make sure she wasn't late "Meri" Alex greeted her the moment she stepped into the shop "hey" Meriel spared the redhead a glance before entering the place where they usually place their bag and stuff grabbing an apron on her way out.

The work day, as usual, was busy for the young woman filled with taking orders and serving customers "handle the counter Meri" Alex said waving off Stella one of their coworkers who was a college student "why? where are you going?" she turned to the redhead "somewhere" just as the redhead walked out of the shop someone entered "oh hello sir" Meriel greeted the man in a black hoodie glancing at her co-worker who was fading in the crowd of people "one frappucino" the man said "anything else?" she smiled as she looked up at the man "no that'll be all" he said pulling out a packet of cigarette's "sir you can't smoke in here" Meriel pointed to a sign at one of the walls.

Meriel sighed closing up the coffee shop "I guess he ditched work again" it wasn't abnormal for Alex Fernandes to walk out of the coffee shop with the intention of not returning I'm so tired... she dragged her tired body to her apartment.

"Finally home," the girl said after opening the door and throwing her bag on the sofa "oh can't wait for a nice bath" Meriel made her way to her room where she placed her hearing aids before making her way to the bathroom.

Just as Meriel busted open the bathroom after struggling with the handle "oh my god!" the person inside yelled seeing the woman at the door both of them screamed upon seeing the other.
