"How do you know my name!" Báye said shaking. The woman smiled as she stood up.
"We have been waiting a while to find you. My name is Yuri Graxielli, the scroll keeper. I'm Coven's guardian. Maybe it would be better if you looked at the prophecy first."
She pointed to a paragraph in a book. Báye peered at the small manuscript reading what looked like a prophecy.
One who's name is known as Báye
Will hold the light and represent day
The twins will guide him on his path
Bright stars are they on the constellation map
Until he passes it to the protection of another
From the evil one who's light looks to smother
Báye frowned confused.
"Ummm. What?"
Yuri raised an eyebrow at him then looked over at Coven.
"Is he this clueless? How hard did you hit him child?"
Coven shrugged as Báye looked at him betrayed.
"You planned to run into me on purpose? My siblings are probably terrified for my safety right now! How could I have trusted you!"
Coven waved his arms vehemently in an attempt to calm him down.
"Hey we needed to find the one in the prophecy, otherwise you could have been captured by the evil one. And you're lucky we got to you just in time, they almost caught you. They are waiting to catch you going back home!" He blurted out.
"Coventini Amelio Graxielli! You weren't supposed to tell him. Imagine if you were being hunted by the dark one, the dark servants would slither out of Eden and stalk you, they always find their targets and they would catch you and either rip you to shreds or carry you off to the dark one themself, and you would have the light striped from your bones and flayed off your flesh. He needs more time to come to grips with being the protector before he hears all that!" Yuri scolded.
"Yes mother, go ahead and think very carefully about that sentence and tell me that's what you meant to say." Coven sighed sarcastically.
"Ummm... I don't feel... so good..." Báye said.
They both turned as Báye fell over unconscious on the chair.

Sasi woke up with a start to a jabbing pain in their side. They stood up shaking themself out and stretching.
Still no Báye.
They flew out towards home hoping he had showed up at some point in the night. They landed in the back yard and yawned as they trudged inside to the kitchen. Sasi froze when they saw all the furniture was strangely absent. The room was bare and Odë was gone.
"Odëthella! Are you redecorating again!" They yelled to the silent room. The lamp fixtures were even missing, causing Sasi to feel a sense of impending doom. They ran through the rooms for any sign of their twin, looked under every cushion. Nothing. They ran out onto the front porch and looked around the bushes out front. Nothing.
Turning around Sasi caught a glimpse of a sign. A for sale sign.
"Not on my watch!" Sasi grumbled, yanking it out of the yard and chucking it in the fire pile. They wandered inside again and sat on the hardwood floors. All their fish were gone. Odë's flowers which she carefully tailored to, gone. Báye's favorite cup that he carved with their dad, gone. But the most devastating realization was the whereabouts of their siblings, gone.
"Don't panic they will turn up soon. You just need to wait it out Sasi! Stop talking to yourself Sasi. I can't stop there's no one here to talk to except myself! Just stop your going crazy. Maybe I should go out and look for them more, I haven't checked the school, maybe Báye missed his Manta! Yes that's a good idea go check there. Thanks Sasi! No problem Sasi!"
Sasi smacked their forehead as they calmed their nerves.
"I have to hide the house key. No one can know how to get in."
Sasi grabbed their cloak lying dejectedly on the floor and fastened it around their shoulders. First order of business. The school.

Cold
Wet
Water
Colder than the chill of a crab creeping on your spine.
Colder than Valley at night.
Colder than Báye's skin when he heard the bone chilling realization that he was being hunted.
"There you go child, you're finally awake!"
Yuri and Coven stood anxiously over his limp form, Yuri with a vase poised over his head pouring water on it, his mask was lying dejectedly on the floor so they could wake him up.
"I'm up! Drop the water! Achhh it's so cold!"
"Oh we know! That's one of the nicest things about the Starlight Desert. Now to the task at hand, we must get you in fighting shape to go on your quest!"
"Quest? What quest! I didn't agree to any quest! Who says I even want to be this protector! Just give it to someone else! I'm definitely not the right person for the job!"
Báye said, jumping up and pushing them back. The Aryonwyns didn't go on quests, none of the sort. Báye admitted he lived a privileged life, comfy in one realm, food nearby, water source close, plenty of amenities in the market square. He knew many merchants had to travel across realms to deliver their wares, and they used to when their parents were alive, but that had been the end of them.
Now that he thought back, his parents job didn't make sense. They traveled about frequently as merchants, but didn't bring any stock with them, any merchandise, no amenities. They always got to the realm, stayed a few days, and then left, loaded with goods.
Báye looked back at the book, avoiding the Graxielli's gaze.
"Báye, we aren't going to abandon you, truthfully if you weren't the one for this quest then the prophecy would be different. Let's just start with gathering knowledge about the light, then we will know where to go." Yuri said gently.
Coven put his hand on Báye's cloak, clearly still feeling guilty about earlier.
"I'm sorry I tricked you, but if I randomly came up to you at school and said "Hi an evil overlord is going to kidnap you because you are the chosen protector of the light, and they will turn you into solid stone or rip you into shreds, so you need to come with me..." What would you do? Honestly!" He laughed, and Báye couldn't help but smile back. He wouldn't have listened, and probably went home anyways.
Home. Oh no. The twins!
"My siblings! What about my siblings?! Would the dark one send Krill to kidnap them?!!"
Yuri winked at him.
"Don't worry, we made arrangements for them. The dark one has spies in your village and so we made it look like you were never there to begin with. The twins will be here shortly, but in the meantime you must rest, it must have been an exhausting day for you."
Báye nodded, a yawn escaping him to further prove Yuri's point.
"Come on Báye! You can stay in my room!" Coven grabbed his arm as he dashed towards an open arch.
"Oh no you don't! You will keep him up all night with your jabbering Coven. Take him to the guest room, and let him sleep!"
"Fine Mamaaaaa!" He groaned, leading Báye in the opposite direction.
The corridor was dark but pleasant, smelling of lilacs. The walls were light washed stone with hardly any cracks on its facade. Small alcoves held low burning candles which cast dancing shadows every five feet.
Coven pushed lightly on a small unassuming door and revealed a well lit room, with a feather down bed and small tea table.
"If you prefer a less clean space and a little bigger, my room is just down the hall!" He gave Báye an awkward pat on the back, then slipped out into the corridor.
Báye collapsed gratefully on the soft mattress, fatigue hitting him like a tidal wave.
He sat up slowly as he laughed.
"I'm going to die!"
