"No legacy is so rich as honesty." When Shakespeare wrote that, he obviously didn't knowwhat I know about teenage boys. I mean, I know there are guys with integrity, who lead with truth. I've just never met any of them.
After years of pushing people away,I opened my heart to Lucas Morningstar, the boy in the wrong place at the right time who just needed a place to belong. Turns out, Lucas isn't the hero of my story at all. But when I hunt him down,I'm gonna be the villain of his. -Hope Mikaelson
Lucas Morningstar and Landon Kirby were hidden in the woods nervously. They had both taken a knife from the school and they knew that Hope wouldn't be too happy about it and it made Lucas feel sick so they stayed hidden in some bunker hiding from a woman who literally breathes fire.
"We are so screwed" Landon says to his friend earning a nod in return.
"Definitely" Lucas replies back.
They are both interrupted when their friend Rafael rushes in.
"Lan, Lucas!" He calls out and they all hug.
"Dude, how did you find us?" Landon asks.
"We'll I doubt it would be that hard mate" Lucas replies sarcastically.
"Yeah what he said. Look I don't know what happened but there is an extremely angry girl out there who looks vengeful" Rafael tells them which causes Lucas to frown
"There's, um, a-a lot of crazy witchy people looking for you. There's a bus full of burned-up people... " Rafael adds on.
"That wasn't me" but before any of them could reply they are interrupted by said vengeful girl.
"So who was it?" Hope asks plainly.
"Hope" Lucas whispers out but frowns when he's ignored.
"You said 3 minutes" Rafael says confused.
"We'll like I said, people lie. Corporis impetu" Hope says and mutters a spell which flings both Lucas and Landon back leaving them groaning.
"That was quite powerful love" Lucas says with a slight smirk but it vanished when he's once again ignored.
"Hey! Where's the knife?" Hope asks angrily.
"I don't have it. I must've lost it when I ran-" Landon replies but is cut off by Hope.
"After you burned the bus?"
"That wasn't me, I swear. I barely got out alive" Landon defends himself by saying.
"Hope, come on"
"Last chance. Who the hell was it?" Hope asks angrily.
"There was this girl..." Landon replies and starts explaining what happened...
"I don't believe anything you say" Hope says.
"You have every right to be mad at me, but I am telling you the truth come on man, help me" Landon says.
"I believe him" Rafael defends.
"You believe that a fire-breathing woman burned the bus alive?" Hope asks clearly not convinced.
"We're being completely honest hope" Lucas replies seriously and his stomach did flips on the inside when he sees her look at him and her face faulter for a second before she stops.
"Yeah. And Landon, Lucas what happened to be spared?" Hope asks dryly.
"They told you that they ran" rafael defends.
"And conveniently lost the knife on the way" Hope says sarcastically.
"Yes"
"She kept coming at us like she was gonna take it from me. She was burning everything in her path" Landon says.
"You want to explain to me what you were doing stealing the knife in the first place?" Hope asks.
"I don't remember stealing it" Landon replies with hesitation.
"Of course not. How about pretending to be compelled?" Hope asks.
"We wanted to avoid being thrown back in the werewolf dungeon" Lucas replies
"Transitional cellar"
"Small spaces. Hope, you have to understand, Dr. Saltzman had already told me the school wasn't gonna let Landon stay and I couldn't leave him to be alone. If he thought He'd talk, he'd lock us back up. There wasn't a good ending for him and maybe me. We didn't want to steal from you and I don't want a fire-breather chasing me. I'm sorry for all of it" Lucas replies again causing her to falter a bit and more butterflies to erupt in his stomach.
"He's not lying. I know him. Now, if he says that there's a fire-breathing woman running through the woods, then there is a..." Rafael is cut off by Dr Saltsman.
"There's a fire-breathing woman running through the woods. Did I or did I not say "don't engage"?"
"They're only dangerous if crappy apologies can kill" Hope says sarcastically making a hurt look appear across Lucas's face.
"Looks can be deceiving" Dr Saltsman replies "Now our bus refugee, turns out she's a pyromancer"
"Wait, wh-what's a pyromancer?" Landon and Rafael ask.
"A fire-breathing witch" both Hope and Lucas reply at the same time causing them both to glance at each other with a light blush on both there cheeks.
"Ric, she wants the knife" Hope says.
"Okay, well, where is it?" He asks.
"I-I lost it in the woods. We were running around in circles all night trying to find a place to hide" Landon replies nervously.
"Okay, okay. Well, let's, uh, find it before she does, huh? We don't want any trouble" Dr Saltzman says.
"What does she want?" Landon asks.
"I don't know. Lan?" RAF asks.
"Maybe she wants the kn*fe you said you don't have" Hope says sarcastically.
"Back in the cellar, go. Go, go, go, go"
"Where the hell is it?" Hope asks angrily.
"I'm sorry. I panicked"
"What the hell, mate?" Lucas asks frustrated.
"Hope, the doors"
"Got it. Adiuuatur"
"Okay, it's a quick fix" Dr saltzman says.
"It won't last long" Lucas replies.
"All right, great, I need a cell phone"
"Take your pick" Landon tells us.
"What is all this?" Dr saltsman asks.
"It's from the people on the bus" Hope says confused.
"I didn't bring it here" Landon says.
"I... If he says "I swear" one more time, I'm gonna melt him" Hope replies causing Lucas to chuckle.
"You look hot when your mad" Lucas whispers in hopes ear and smirks when he notices the shivers that go down her spine.
