New Member To The Stark Family

Tony's POV | 

The house had been really quiet lately, nothing interesting had happened in weeks. While Pepper seemed to be enjoying the peace and quiet, he was dying for a new adventure! Pepper had given him full run of his own house, he was allowed in the lab whenever he wanted! Score!! But even the lab wasn't interesting enough. 

He needed to find something to do, and needed to find it fast, before he died of boredom. Pepper was sitting on the couch reading a book, she really likes reading. Tony had bought her an Ironman book, which she refuses to read, for her birthday last year. Pepper had told him that she wouldn't read the book because she had the real thing right there with her, however, he refused to believe this. 

He needed a new adventure, but he wanted one with Pepper. The only issue was that he didn't know what to do. He thought about a family, with Pepper, little Starks running around the house all day. He smiles at the thought. But was Pepper ready for kids? Was HE ready for kids? He kicked the thought of kids out of his mind and thought about something else. He decided to go on a drive around town to see if there's anything interesting they could do together. 

He walks over to Pepper, who seems to be very into her book. "Hey Pep, I'm going for a drive, want to come?" He asks, looking at her.

"No thanks Tony, I'm ok just here, you have fun though" She replies, without looking up from her book. 

"Suit yourself then" He says, feeling a little sad at the fact that she didn't even want to spend time with him. He walks out the front door and over to his car, which is parked in the middle of the driveway. Unlocking the car, he gets in and starts up the engine. Driving down the driveway, he heads into town.

As he drives through the streets trying to find something to do, he sees some people walking their dogs. "THATS IT!" He yells "IM BUYING PEPPER AND I A DOG!" He quickly drives over to the closest animal shelter in search of their new pet.

When he finally arrived at one of the shelters he quickly makes his way inside, trying to dodge the paparazzi. After discussing with an employee about what he was looking for, even though he didn't even really know what he was even looking for. The employee led him out to where the dogs were kept. He was looking at all the dogs trying to find one that suited him, when he came across a grey, brown and white husky puppy. His name was Harley. 

Harley was only 3 months old and was so little. He had one blue eye and one brown eye, and such little fluffy ears. He had short stubby legs and awfully soft fur. Harley was a very shy dog, and with how exciting and full on Tonys life normally is, he probably wouldn't fit in very well. But Tony was going to make it work! If that meant isolating their family until Harley came out of his shell, he would do it. 

After filling out all the paper work and paying for the dog he left to go buy some necessities for his new puppy. He drove to the closest pet shop, which was only around the corner. He got out of the car and walked inside, looking at all the different things he needed to buy. After a lot of thinking he had decided on a leather collar with Harley engraved on the gold name plate, a matching leather lead, a big, fluffy, grey bed, the best dog food money could buy, a lot of toys for all occasions, and a lot of different treats.

After filling up his car with dog things, he quickly drove back to the shelter to pick up his new pet. Once he had put Harley's collar and lead on he slowly led him over to his car, sitting him on the passenger seat and closing the door.

While driving home, he was telling Harley all about Pepper even though the puppy was asleep on the seat next to him. Harley was going to be a great new addition to the Stark household. When he pulled into the driveway, Harley was standing up. trying to look out the window, although he was too short. Once his car was parked he picked up Harley's lead and helped him out of the car. They walked up to the front door and went inside.

Pepper was still on the couch, reading the same book. Pepper looked up at him, then down at the dog, then back up to him again. "What is that?" She asks, keeping a straight face. 

"This is Harley! He's a 3 month old Hus-" He tries to respond.

"Why is there a dog in the living room Tony" She says, keeping the same face but her voice sounded slightly annoyed. 

"I- It's been really quiet lately and I felt like we needed something to do... I didn't think you wanted kids just yet so... I bought us a dog..." He says, trying to hide his fear. Pepper didn't seem to be very impressed at him bring home a dog.

"You bought us a dog because you thought it was too quiet?" Pepper replies, still giving the same look. He couldn't tell if she liked it or not, man she could be so hard to read sometimes.

"Well yea..." He mumbles, starting to regret his decision of getting Harley. Pepper got up and walked over towards him and the dog. Harley, who was looking around the room, looked up at Pepper. Pepper kneels down, patting the puppy. "Do you like him Pep?" Tony asks, hoping that she does.

"Tony, I love him!" She says, patting the puppy on the head and smiling like crazy. Harley got super excited at the feel of her touch. Tony, who was relieved that she liked him, was standing there looking down at them. Pepper looked so happy, he felt happy and Harley was happy.

"Pep, would you be able to help me unload the car? I went shopping..." He asks, kneeling down and unclipping Harley's lead. 

"Of course Tony!" She replies, looking at him while patting Harley "Wait how much did you buy?" She asks, as she notices that he hadn't brought anything in. 

"A lot..." He replies, looking down at his feet. Harley, who had just realised that he was no longer tied up, ran across the room and started sniffing around. Pepper laughed as she laid back on the floor. He kneels over her, looking down into her eyes. "Take this to the bedroom Potts?" He asks, smirking at her.

"Oh yes please" Pepper replies, knowing what he's hinting at. He gets up, holding out his hand for her. Pepper takes the offered hand and they walk to the bedroom, leaving Harley to explore the house.

Harley's POV | 

He made his way quickly around the house, sniffing anything he could. Tony and Pepper had gone to their bedroom and had shut the door behind them. He explored every room with an open door, his tail wagging. He soon started to get tired, making his way over to the couch, he jumps up and makes himself comfortable. The tired, little, puppy quickly falls asleep.

Pepper's POV | 

Once they had unloaded the car, they started setting everything up inside. The food bowls in the kitchen, dog food in the cupboard, toys spread across the floor, the dog bed was in their bedroom and the lead was hung up at the door. Harley was still asleep on the couch, looking so adorable. 

When it was time for bed, Tony made his way to the bedroom with Harley, she followed not too far behind. Tony put Harley in his bed and changed into some shorts and an A.C.D.C. shirt. Pepper changed into one of Tony's shirts and a pair of short shorts. They both hop in bed and cuddle up after the long day. Harley sat in his bed whining very loudly. "Oh come on then Harley" Tony says, ushering the dog to join them on the bed. Harley jumps up on the bed and settles himself between her and Tony. Tony has his arm wrapped around her waist, holding her close, his head resting on her shoulder. "We've got the best family" Tony whispers to her, closing his eyes.

"That we do" She whispers back, leaning her head on his and closing her eyes. Soon all 3 of them were peacefully asleep, all huddled together. Their family finally felt complete.
