Neveah's pov

I looked at my phone screen, watching the numbers change at the top every minute. I had been sitting in the Library for almost an hour now and Amara was still not here. Where could she be?

I sighed as I leaned back on the beanbag. The Librarian came dusting at some books when she noticed me.

"You okay sweetheart?" She asked in her soft voice. Her gray hair was neatly tied back into a slick ponytail. Her eyes were kind and she wore a tired smile.

"Yeah I'm good. Just waiting for someone." I replied quietly.

She nodded before heading off again.

I looked at my phone screen once again. 7:45. Amara was late.

I stood up abruptly, dusting invisible dirt off my jeans as I watched the doors hopefully.

She's not coming. My brain suddenly announced.

I turned around to grab my bag from the beanbag when suddenly a very zombie looking Amara pushed through the glass doors.

"Neveah." She said loudly. "I'm here. I'm here. Sorry I'm so late." She apologized hastily.

I looked at her. What on earth happened to her? She looked like she just got off the streets and hadn't showered or slept in weeks.

She scurried over to me and looked at me with the most depressing eyes I'd ever seen.

She sighed. "Please can you sit down?" She asked me.

Without hesitation, I was back on the beanbag.

I watched her intently. She took deep breaths before speaking.

"So...I know we've not been on the best terms since I told you about Kayden and I." She began.

I nodded, indicating for her to go on.

She swallowed hard.

"Look...all I want to do right now is apologize for not telling you in advance about everything and have us go back to normal. I feel really bad about what I did especially cause in the end, it affected our friendship. So I just want to say sorry for hiding such an important thing from you and I understand if you're still mad but I'm hoping you can forgive me for it." She finished.

I looked at her with a raised eyebrow. I'm pretty sure there was way more she wanted to say and get off her chest.

She understood immediately that I knew that was not all and continued.

"Ok. To be fair, I didn't get why it mattered to you if Kayden and I were dating. You were over him and I didn't think it'll affect you in anyway. For most of it, I was mad that I had to inform you about it first before doing something that made me happy and in a way, I felt like I was asking you for permission to do something I didn't need your permission for. " She ranted.

I sighed.

"But-" she interrupted. "But I know now that you're not mad that I'm with Kayden but you're upset that I didn't tell you that I liked him and wanted to be with him and ultimately left you in the dark on something so important. It wasn't the best friend thing to do."

I looked at her face. She was desperately sorry. She seemed to be begging for my forgiveness. But I had already forgiven her. I couldn't stay mad at her forever. I understood why she did what she did and felt awful that she felt that way about the situation but I was glad that she understood what the matter was now.

"It's okay Amara. I totally forgive you." I said.

"Really?" She smiled, a little surprised.

"Yeah. And I'm sorry too." I told her.
