The closer I got to that light, the more I felt my consciousness slipping away.

.

I don't know how long I was inconsistent, but when I woke up I immediately felt the change of atmosphere.

It was cold, very cold.

I tried to open my eyes but the light was so strong that I couldn't. Keeping my eyes closed, I tried to use my other senses to discover what was around me.

A bonfire sounded from my left along with voices talking animatedly, although I couldn't understand what they were saying.

What a strange language was that?

Somewhere behind me I could hear heavy breathing, like a large animal. Further to the right of this great animal I heard grunts and low roars, which I assimilated to another great creature.

I had to get out of there before one of these creatures mistakes me for its next meal.

I tried to get up but it was only then that I felt something was wrong with my body. I was smaller and much weaker, but still had more.

The first big difference I felt was in my head. My ears weren't where they were supposed to be, they were on top of my head. And I could move them however I wanted.

Soon after I noticed that something in my back and waist also moved according to my will.

On the back was a pair, which I could stretch and retract any way I wanted, and the shape of them felt like something like wings or something.

Already at the waist I could move something long and thin, in which I came to have two parts that I could move closer or farther apart as I wanted.

And finally what took me the longest to notice were my hands and feet, when I tried to get up again.

I no longer had fingers, my arms and legs were thicker and seemed to be the same size.

"Now I'm someone strange quadrupedal creature. How crazy." I thought and only after that thought did I notice.

It was very quiet there. There were no more grunts from the creatures, the only sounds were the voices that spoke a strange language and the cold wind passing by.

Were they gone? No, I was sure that wasn't the case. I somehow knew that they were still there and that they were now watching me closely. I had made a mistake again.

I was so immersed in discovering what I was that I didn't notice that my movement would attract the creatures' attention.

Suddenly I heard it, a voice that spoke at the same speed as the grunts of one of the creatures. Soon after came several voices accompanied by grunts and roars and then I noticed.

I wasn't close to two creatures but in the midst of at least six creatures.

And the worst part is that I could understand part of what they were saying.
