It was just like every other night. There was a small breeze making the leaves on the trees outside your house rustle softly. You liked the way they sounded, it always relaxed you when you were feeling stressed. Luckily you weren't right now, so enjoying the moment was the only thing you were doing.

Well, if it wasn't for someone knocking on your bedroom window.

You got up from under the covers and jumped off your bed quickly, hurrying to get to the window. You weren't surprised to see who was behind it as you opened it, revealing your boyfriend Zach.

It wasn't an uncommon occurence between you two, more likely something you both have gotten used to by now.

Your mood was good. You were still relaxed from the moment before, and nothing happened that would've made you upset in any way. Zach on the other hand didn't seem to have that much luck.

His eyes were red and slightly puffy, and there were small bruises all over his arms.

'He must've gotten them from climbing all the way up here', you thought as you felt guilt build up in the pit of your stomach.

You grabbed his hands gently and pulled him into your room, making him stand right in front of you. The boy only watched you for a second, before slowly falling forward and wrapping his arms around you. He was standing in a slouched manner, his grip not too tight around your waist. His face was buried in your neck, and you lifted your arms up behind his head and brushed through his hair softly. It always calmed him down, at least a bit.

You didn't know what happened, but you didn't push him to answer you. Judging form the way he put his weight on you, you guessed it was something that made him very unhappy. You knew that his life wasn't easy. He was always put on medication, never being told the true reason. He never had a lot of friends, which is why he spent all his time with you. Of course you didn't complain about that, you loved spending time with your boyfriend. But in most cases something upset him, and that's the thing that bothers you.

'Why can't he just be treated like a normal person for at least one damn time?', you thought as you remembered the way people looked at him. As "the freak" or "the weird kid". You never understood their reasons, they never knew him the way you did. Maybe something would be different?

"Hey love", you whispered into his ear, making him flinch slightly. Instead of answering, he nodded into your neck, breathing rapidly. You were concerned for him, because the longer you were standing, the tighter his grip onto you got. It almost seemed like he thought you'd disappear if he let you go for only one second.

"Love, why don't you come onto the bed with me? Isn't standing for that long uncomfortable? Here take my hand.", you said tenderly, slowly pushing him off of you and extending your hand out for him to take. He seemed to think for a second, before he slowly reached out and grabbed it. You sent him a soft smile and led him towards the bed, where you laid down. He got in right after you and crawled into your opened arms, which you placed around his shoulders while he placed his head on your chest.

"Look, you don't have to tell me what's bothering you. I just want you to know that I'm here for you anytime you need it, and you never have to ask me to come over. You know that, right?", you asked, while you were playing with the soft strands of his hair. He looked up to you and nodded, his eyes still puffy.

"It's just...", he began, speaking for the first time that night. He hesitated, before continuing to speak.

"Everything is just... Too much right now. My parents always expect me to bring someone with me like I'm some kind of a human magnet. Like there's people who want to be my friends around every single corner, like I attract others. But you already know how they see me. As the freak that's just the creepy guy next door. They treat me like I don't have feelings, like I'm just some sort of punching bag. I see the ways they stare at me, and they stare at you the same way. Because you're with me. I just... Wasn't sure... If you still really wanted to be with me or if you're only with me because you feel some sort of sympathy for me. Honestly, I'd understand that. I don't have much to give you anyway.", he explained, slowly pulling away from you.

Your heart dropped slightly. Why would he make himself believe such terrible things? You pulled your boyfriend up close to you again, shuffling around a bit so you guys were face to face.

"Look Zach, I have no idea who made you think stuff like that and why. Do you really think I'm only staying with you because I feel bad for you? Please, that's horrible. See, I love you soooo much!", you said as you turned on your back and wildly gestured around with your hands. The boy next to you watched as you turned back to face him again, and his eyes widened as you cupped his cheeks. Slowly but surely, you began to pepper his adorable face with small kisses, making him giggle softly. Your whole body warmed at that, hearing the laugh you adored so much.

"I'll always stick up for you, love. You can count on me.", you said as you were done, making him nod in the process.

He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you closer to him, until your faces were only inches apart. You were surprised about the sudden confidence, and even more as he connected your lips in a gentle kiss.

You're my only comfort...
