Chapter 4: Operation: Romance

Days went on as Valentine and Clawd's meetings got longer. After hours at the mall, secret meetings in the basement. They even resorted to the far out woods but the recent monster hunt was enough to keep them at bay from the normies town. "So I get that I need to step up my game on gifts but money doesn't exactly grow on trees." Clawd said after the fifth time Valentine suggested multiple expensive gifts. "Clawd, it is 3am, we are in the forest, and I have no other ideas for you." He shakes his head. Clawd whimpers, drooping his ears and gives Valentine those famous puppy eyes. "But I don't know who else to turn to!" Valentine wished he could back out but he couldn't. Something about Clawd just drew him closer. Like a magnetic force he couldn't resist. "Fine." He said reluctantly "Let's just move on. I have an idea." He said, standing up, Clawd following like a lost puppy. "Just practice your skills on me, pretend I'm Draculaura." Clawd furrowed his brow but started anyway. "Hey baby you look like fresh meat on a sunday afternoon. I just wanna eat you up." Valentine stared at Clawd in disbelief. "She's vegetarian.." He sighed, 'This is hopeless'. Clawd sat down, defeated "But that was my best line." Valentine rolled his eyes once again, it seemed to be a habit of his ever since they started hanging out. He thought for a moment and then his mouth curled into a devious smile. "What?" Clawd asked. "I just thought of something you can do." He said in response. Clawd's ears perked up. "It's going to take a lot but Draculauras worth it..right?" Valentine asked.

"What if I'm not good enough." Clawd whimpered, worried.."Well maybe the problem isn't that you aren't good enough...but you lack the proper mentality to get what you need." He stated motioning for him to follow him. Clawd didn't say anything but followed the vampire inside his limo.

He whispered in his driver's ear, who just nodded and started driving to a place unknown. "Where are we going?" Clawd asked. "People who ask questions are just stallers that don't get the answers they need." Valentine replied, as the bump in the road caused him to look away from Clawd and back onto the road. Clawd stared in bewilderment at Valentine but kept his mouth shut, knowing this was going to help him...in more ways than one.

They got to their destination and Clawd got out of the limo. "We're here." Valentine said, walking towards the door. "The mall?" Clawd said. "What are we doing here?" Valentine rolled his eyes. "You ask too many questions, now break the lock." Clawd hesitated but continued to do so. With his bare arms, the lock managed to break off, giving them access to enter the mall. "What now..?" Clawd asked, looking at his surroundings. "Toraeli informed me that a makeup store has this exclusive makeup palette that they aren't releasing until after draculaura's birthday." Clawd stopped in his tracks. "You've been hanging out with Toralei?"

FLASHBACK...

After the encounter, we started hanging out more, it went from quick glances, to quick greetings, to full on conversations. Before we knew it, we were friends.

"I'm at a stopping point." Valentine grumbled as he vented to his newly found friend.

She laughs at my dismay, "What's got the oh so, handsome Kirean Valentine down?" He huffs, and puts the back of his hand on his forehead, making an over dramatic gesture, "He's hopeless, oh because of him i'm going to get wrinkles!" He exclaimed and laughed at the toralei's annoyed face. "On a serious note, i need help choosing a gift, he refuses to get anything expensive" He shrugs. Torelei thought for a moment, before she remembered eavesdropping on Draculaura. "Well, I heard Draculaura really wants this new makeup palette, though it's only sold in one specific store, AND it's not even released yet." She says as she takes a bite out of her tuna fish sandwich. Valentine internally gagged but came up with a brilliant idea. "Thanks pretty kitty, I can always count on you!" He winks at her and walks away to god knows where. The "Pretty kitty" in question just rolls her eyes and continues to finish her sandwich, before going to class. "All I need is the right strength to add to this operation." Valentine says looking around. His eyes lay on Clawd coming out of the gym "And I know just the monster to help." He walks up to the sweating figure, looking him up and down before speaking, "Hey, you." Hearing his voice Clawd turns around quickly to look at the shorter male. "Oh, hey..do you need something?" Heath, who happened to be standing beside them, got the hint, "So, uh i'll just leave you two to be i guess.." He walked away. Valentine scoffed and continued, "Meet me in front of the school." Not giving Clawd time to reply, he walked to class.

A few hours later

Valentine was waiting outside of the castle gates. "Hey man." Clawd says walking down to him from the top of the stairs giving Valentine a slight embrace. "Uhmm what do you think you're doing?" Valentine said, pulling away flustered. "Sorry man, I'm a hugger." Clawd said, slightly embarrassed. Valentine frowned in disgust,but had been screaming on the inside. "Alright, come on." He said, opening the door to the limo. Clawd eagerly followed the scent of Valentine's expensive Shadow Rose cologne enticing him.

"So to answer your question- "Wait, that's why!? I thought you just wanted to hang out with me! Clawd interrupted and looked him up and down wondering if he should keep going. "Do you want to stay with Draculaura or not?" Valentine asked. That was all that was needed to convince Clawd to continue. They finally got to the makeup store and started to plan. "Alright." Valentine said "I'm going to transform into a bat and get the palette. You stand guard and look for anything else Draculaura could want." Clawd nodded and broke the security box and lock on the door. "Wait!" Clawd said before they could enter. "What?" Valentine said, turning around. "Why are we doing this?" Valentine coyly smiled, continued into the store and said. "Because Operation: Romance, starts now."
