Chapter 5: Operation: Makeup, Breakup

"Thanks pretty kitty, I can always count on you!" Valentine said walking out of the room. Toralei rolled her eyes and continued finishing her sandwich as she left the lunchroom. Looking to her left she saw Clawd and Valentine talking and starting to walk away. She then heard a sigh and looked to her right. Draculaura standing by her locker, textbooks in hand, waiting for Clawd. Rather than call Clawd over, Draculara just sadly watched as he and Valentine left for Art Class. Both Toralei and Draculara had a free period so instead of laughing at her dismay, Toralei took the opportunity to work on her plan and walked over to her. "Hey Drac." She said in a sweet tone. "Go away Toralei." Draculara said "I'm not in the mood to deal with you right now."Toreli put her hand on her chest, playfully acting offended. "I just wanted to see why my best ghoul FRIEND was sulking away in this corner?" She says, her voice showing a slight hint of concern. Though Torelei was pretty sure she knew the answer. Draculaura just sighed, "I don't know..I know Clawd loves me but..he's just been hanging around with Valentine all the time.." She sadly looks down. "Aww Draculaura. Maybe it's not Clawd that's the problem." Toralei stated. "I know ..... it's me." Draculaura said, tearing up. "No not that. Maybe it's the type of love you're receiving that's all wrong for you." Toralei whispers in her ear. "Tell you what. How about you and I go to the coffin bean after school. Make you feel better?" Draculaura blushed at the gesture and wanted to say no but something inside her just couldn't. "Okay. Let's do it!" She exclaimed.

After school , they took a taxi to The Maul. They entered the building and walked to the coffin bean, making small talk on their way. Once finding a booth to settle down in, they took their orders. "I'll have iced mocha with vegetarian spice please." Draculaura said "Oh and a dollop of whipped cream with fresh strawberries." She said, The waiter looked at her confused, but nodded and jotted down her order. "And you ma'am?" Toralei shakes her head, "I'm not hungry." Draculaura sides eye her, "Then why did you bring me here?" She said, a bit of anger flowing. "I just wanted to make you feel better." Toralei said as a matter of factly. "But if it's really that important to you, I'll have peppermint tea I guess." She winks at Draculaura, "Don't worry, I'll still pay." Even with all the blush she wears Draculaura's cheeks still turned so red you could tell, which made Toralei chuckle. "I'll be out with your orders soon." The waiter said walking away awkwardly.

"So is there anything you wanted to talk about?" Toralei asked, noticing Draculaura still looked a little sad. "Oh I..I guess." She said slowly looking up towards Toralei. "I just always thought my past would be my past. But I guess it came back to get me this time." Toralei couldn't help but feel a little bad. She wanted Draulaura to dump Clawd but this wasn't something she expected.

They sat in silence until the waiter came back with their drinks. As they sat, laughed and talked together Toralei started to notice Draculaura wasn't what she thought. She learned that she liked to take midnight walks and have movie nights. Some things were the same about Draculaura but something was different. A side that Toralei had never seen before. Though perhaps it wasn't Toralei but rather Draculaura hiding that part of herself from everyone. Toralei wanted to comment on it but didn't want to ruin the conversation.

Their conversation continued as they were heading to a store. "Umm Draculaura." Said a voice behind them. They turned and saw Clawdeen, Frankie and Cleo standing behind them. "Ohh hey ghouls." Draculaura said. "Don't hey ghouls us." Cleo snarked, "You were supposed to meet us half an hour ago." "Really? Oh..I must've lost track of time." Draculaura said. Cleo and Clawdeen shared a look and then started to glare at Toralei. "And what are you doing here?" Clawdeen asked. Toralei smiled. "Well I was just getting drinks with Draculaura." She said, putting her hand around the slightly blushing vampire. "You were what?" Clawdeen growled, turning to face draculaura. "Did I not mention that?" She said, Clawdeen rolled her eyes and picked her stuff. "Well we'll be at the jewelry store if you're not too busy with your new best friend." Frankie said, finally speaking. "Ghouls ..." Draculaura said. Without any more words they left, leaving a guilty Draculaura and a smiling Toralei.
