*Carly's POV*
July, 16th 2009
I could never forget that day.
The day I was rushed to the hospital.
All the falling tears.
The day I was diagnosed with leukemia.
I still remember it plain as day. The nurse asked to speak to my parents in private. They followed her out the door and silently closed it behind them. I could see them through the little window. The tears and the looks on their faces. I knew it. They walked in and tried to look like they were fine. But I knew they weren't. My mom hugged me and told me I was gonna be okay but, but I just couldn't think the same.
But it's been about 3 years, I'm 19 now.
I have no more hope that I'm going to get better. I cry myself to sleep half of the time.
"Honey, are you hungry?" My mother popped in intruding on my thoughts.
Yes, I still live with my mom okay.
"Um no not really mom.."
"Okay you sure?"
"Yes mom I am sure"
"Okay and today we have to go to the children's hospital charity banquet remember so you best get ready."
"Okay mom i'll be down in awhile" I said rolling my eyes at this point.
"Okay we leave in about an hour and a half."
"Okay"
My mom walks off closing the door behind her.
I walk over to my closet and pull out the first thing that looks decent enough.
I slip off my pants and t-shirt and slide on my jeans and Hollister t-shirt. I walk into the bathroom and apply a little foundation so I don't look completely pale. I'm better than I was a couple years ago so luckily my hair has grown back. I wet my hair, blow dry it, and comb it out. I pull out my curling iron and hair spray. After I finish my hair I apply a cute little bow and head down stairs. I didn't really wanna go but my mom was making me. We get into the car and wait for my dad to start the engine. Slowly we start rolling out of the drive way. "How are you feeling this morning Car?" My dad asked. I loved when he called me Car it made me feel like I was still a little girl with no worries at all. "I'm Fine." I replied with almost no effort.
The car ride seemed like it lasted forever, I just sat there staring out the window thinking. Just thinking about everything.
We pulled into the parking lot and walked behind the building where the banquet was being held. There was a big stage with speakers and microphones, there were drum sets that said something on it but I couldn't read it from the distance we were at. We walked over to a big grassy area and set up chairs. The crowd started filling up, I thought this was a banquet not a concert.
An announcer walked out and adjusted the microphone. He then started to speak,
"Hello Everybody ! Welcome to our banquet!
So it is a banquet.. Make up your minds!
"We have a special group of people here today who have volunteered to speak to you and sing a few songs."
"Oh yay this couldn't get anymore exciting could it?" I said silently to myself with a tint of sarcasm.
5 guys walked onto the stage and the crowd started going wild.
Who were these guys and why did the crowd get so crazy?
