A young man ran through a devastated field, covered in scars and bandages. One of his wings was hurt badly, affecting his chances of surviving. He knew that the creatures, that once were humans, could smell the blood. Therefore, they could smell him. He knew it, and he was trying to find a place where he could patch his wing, so he would have some peace of mind.

There were some buldings left, with a roof and walls, but most were full of those creatures. "Zombies", as he liked to call them. Tho, they weren't zombies. They were more of a mix of vampires and zombies, with a considerably more dead look. More bones showing, more heads falling off their bodies. Hell, there were children! In most comics and movies, there aren't any kids. Actually I take that back, there are kids in movies and comics, but seeing them in real life was horrifying. They were even worse than the adults. More damadged, mostly because they couldn't defend themselve from the creatures when they were alive...

But let's go back to the young man. He had found a building, and now was hiding. He got in a pretty bad fight with one of them.

He sighed, got up and went to leave, but heard a noise. He got in defense mode, ready to fight anything harmful, but nothing. He waited a really small time, relaxed and decided to look around. What he saw was not monster, but none other than a child. The child froze and started begging, scared for his life.

   "P-please! Don't hurt me!!"

The blonde man put his sword away, and got at the child's height.

"What's your name, big man?" He tilted his head, trying to reassure the child.

   The kid hesitated.

  "Shroud..."

"I'm Tommy. Do you have anyone?" He asked, knowing the answer, yet still asking.

Shroud shook his head. He seemed way calmer and more put together.

"Come with me then. You'll be safer with me than alone"

   "Really?"

   "Yeah."

The young boy got up and smiled. "Thank you..!"

He seemed to be confident yet still scared. Which is completely understandable, he's a child in an apocalypse.
