The Angel Within

Chapter 18

As Xander coughed up black blood, or whatever it was, he began to grab what had pierced his body, pull it out, and threw it to the ground beside him.

"Cass, get out of here!"

"I can't, I've got some unfinished business!"

I'm in no mood for games now, it's not just my life on the line, but Gabby's as well. I must get some information on how to get her better, and he's my only chance at getting her back.

"Uuuuuuuuuggghhh!"

I yell as I dart towards Xander, but before I knew it.

"AAAHHHH!"

I had a knee across my face, that sent he hurtling through the air. Xander then showed up above me, smashing me to the ground.

"If that's all you've got kid, you'll end up dead just like your useless girlfriend."

I lay there coughing up blood. Thinking of gabby, thinking of how she's doing. I know she's not doing good. I must fight! I can't lose this battle!

I get up and I could feel a strange power coming towards me. I arise to my feet and begin to hover a few inches off the ground. My body is so week, the ground is a little blurry but slowly my vision is coming back. I wipe the blood from my mouth, as I hopelessly dangle in midair, and gather up all the strength I can.

"No one talks about Gabby that way! No one!"

I look up filled with rage and I could see a ball of fire flying towards me, I reach my hand up and try to dodge it, but I believe I was too late. I put my hands over my face to block it.

Thinking I was dead, I open my eyes and all of a sudden I'm filled with energy, a lot more than what I had before!!

"What happened?" I ask myself.

"Cass, how did you do that?" Dominic asked.

"I don't know, what happened?"

"You absorbed it."

"His blast, no way!"

I look at my hands, and all I could see were little burn marks In the center of my palms.

"That's it Xander, it's my turn now!"

"Give it all you've got, because you'll need it." Zander said with a smirk on his face.

We dart towards each other at full strength. He tries to send his feet flying towards my body but I move slightly towards the left and his neck collided with my arm. Sending him twirly in the air.

"Whoa that was cool!" I said to myself.

"Cass, look out!" Dominic yells!

I turn around a quickly absorb yet another ball of fire that Xander had tried to hit me with, and again, my body's energy sky rockets,

"Come on Cass, Gabby put of more of a fight then this."

"Stop taking about her!"

I am filled with ever more rage then before, and I go at Zander as fast I could, I tackle him towards the ground and dust scatters everywhere, I grab him by his shirt and begin punching him over and over upon his jaw. So much dust has gathered around that I couldn't even see his battered face.

I get up and after a few minutes the dust clears. But Zander isn't there.

"Where is he!" I asked myself.

"Cass!"

That's Dominic's voice.

"Looking or me?"

"Let him go, Xander!!" I look to my right and I could see Alyssa charging towards Zander from a distance.

"Alyssa! No!"

Dominic and I both say at the same time.

"Get away from my husband."

"Alyssa! No!" Xander please. Don't hurt her, take my life instead!" Dominic frantically tried to persuade Xander to take his life instead of Alyssa's.

"Shut up, coward! All you've ever done is run!"

"Xander throws Dominic away and catches Alyssa by the throat, looking her dead in the eyes, slowly he lifts her up.

"So this is what fear looks like on other people, I still don't understand how one "fears" another. Fear is a weakness, and so is love."

Dominic tries to save Alyssa, but it's too late. Xander sent fire from his hands, surrounding her with flames so hot you could feel it one hundred feet away.

Dominic tried to rush towards Xander to save his beloved wife. But he was too late. Dominic falls to his knees crying.

He whispers to himself, "I just couldn't make it in time, I just wasn't fast enough."

"I told you. Love is a weakness, Dominic."

Xander begins to lift both his hands towards Dominic, I already knew what was going to happen next. I wasn't about to stand around to watch him kill another helpless person.

Fire begins to fill the area but before it could reach Dominic I jump in the way and grab both of Xander's hands, beginning to absorb all the fire I can.

"I won't let you kill another person on this planet, Xander! Today you die!"

I grab one of Zander arms, turning, instantly throwing him over my shoulder, crashing into the ground. He hit the ground so hard it sounded and felt as if though a bomb went off.

"You should have just let him kill me." Dominic says as he sobs to the loss of his wife.

"I couldn't allow that, it's not like me to do such a thing. You're wife didn't deserve the fate she got, and neither do you."

I could here sirens in the background, and they were approaching quick.

"Xander, If you wish to live, tell me how to heal Gabby! Now!" I pick up Xander by his shirt demanding he tell me.

"She will die, just like Alyssa."

"Ugh! I'm so tried of you wasting my time!"

"I reach my fist back and punch the ground beside his face."

Xander flinches as he is shocked, as if though he was going to die.

"Fear, is exactly what your feeling right now. Stay away from me, my family, and my fiends. Or I will kill you."

I grab Dominic, putting his arm over my shoulders, and I flee the area before anyone can notice that Dominic and I were here. I look back and notice yet again, Xander was gone. but I could still hear the sirens from the authorities and firefighters rushing towards the scene. The scene of which they will know nothing about.
