I wake up to someone moving my body and quickly I panic. I start squirming and punching to no avail as a cloth with vervain is placed over my mouth, knocking me out.

When I wake again, I'm chained in a dark room made of stone. There are candles littering the floor a safe distance away from where I'm chained. "Hey, kidnappers? Can I get some blood? Haven't had some in a bit. Also... WHAT THE FUCK? I was sleeping peacefully and all of a sudden I'm being kidnapped. At least give me a fucking reason," I call out.

"Okay, okay. Calm yourself," a girl says, rounding the corner.

"Oh I'm sorry for not being calm, but I was just kidnapped," I say sarcastically.

"You have a visitor. His name is Elijah," she says.

"Yeah well, I can't exactly move," I state, tugging on the chains.

"I'm Alice," she tells me as she unlocks the iron cuffs.

"You probably know, but I'm Penny," I introduce myself because she didn't seem evil. When you're a vampire you're kinda desensitized to stuff like this.

The girl and some other people take open the an iron gate that takes me out of the tomb. While walking outside, I look up and, sure enough, it's Elijah.

"Hi Elijah," I greet.

"You said it was a werewolf," Elijah accuses Sophie.

"Hi Penny, nice to see you," I say sarcastically as a response to myself.

"The werewolf girl had a witch do a spell that would transfer the baby if she were to die. She took the chances and chose Penny here as her..." Sophie searches for the right word.

"Backup incubator?" I ask sarcastically.

"I guess," Sophie replies.

"Give us a moment please," Elijah requests.

We go back down into the tomb I was in and I sit on a stone bench while he walks around.

"How are you handling this?" He inquires.

"Oh, I don't know, one of my best friends just died and I found and buried her body by myself, I had to call her family to inform them, I learned I'm pregnant, and I know Klaus won't be easily convinced nor cooperative. Honestly I just want what's best for the baby," I tell him honestly, not caring that I was ranting.

"So have they been holding you against your will?" He queries.

"They kidnapped me while I was sleeping. They did the witchy tests you probably heard about. I'm just confused because I had convinced myself that I would never have a biological child years ago. At most times, I didn't care, not wanting to go through that pain when I could adopt if I wanted, but now it's happening."

"I know you already know some of Klaus' history but if you open your mind to me, I can show you some too," he offers, sitting next to me and speaking softly. I nod and he places his hands on my head.

Alice takes me out again and we walk outside, through a gate, and into a bigger stone building. I see the back of someone who I was kinda upset with. He's going on some rant trying to be an alpha male or whatever. "Fuck this. Why am I here?" Klaus and Elijah turn, seemingly surprised by my presence.

I see a familiar brunette behind Klaus and she starts talking. "Marcel may be able to keep us from practicing real magic in this town, but as keepers of the balance, we still know when nature has cooked up something new."

"Wow... ominous. Do you really have to be so dramatic?" I ask, leaning against one of the walls.

"As I was saying," she glares at me, "I have a special gift of sensing when a girl is pregnant."
