I'm definitely the curious type. I guess that's just how I was created in...
InGen.
Just saying this word makes me shudder.
The things they did. The actions they carried out. The awful experiments they conducted.
It's...frightening, in the least.
Considering what I've been through, can you really blame me for asking a few questions?
"HeysoumareyouworkingwithInGenorsomethingbecauseIlikereallyhateInGendoyouhateInGenbecauseI

"ENOUGH!", Blue roared. I almost fall down because of the sudden outburst.
Impressive explosion.
"Okay, OKAY! Geez. I mean, hey, for someone who's about to help you find your recently captured child, I was expecting some better treatment.", I say, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Yeah yeah laugh it up, Chuckles.", she says bitterly.
"Wait but, seriously though, where are we actually going?"
"Well, we're already here."
We stop at an about average-sized wooden cabin. It doesn't seem that old, probably build a few years ago at most. It actually fits in well with the snowy background, almost like it's another part of nature.
It's tranquil, it's peaceful...
It's...seren-
CHOP!
The sound of wood being chopped snaps me out of my thoughts.
"What was that?", I ask nervously.
"Oh, that? That's just the human girl, Maisie, chopping some wood. Obviously. Like, why would there be a cabin out in the middle of nowhere with no one inhabiting it?", she replies.
"Wa-wait. Hold on. So you-you're saying t-that there are humans here?"
"Yeah, that's what I just sai-"
"WHY DID YOU BRING ME HERE!?!"
All of a sudden, a man walks up to us. He's wearing a red coat with brown stripes and a fur collar. He's also wearing jeans and...wait.
That's that Owen man that I was trying to kill at Lockwood!
"Hey, Blue! Glad to see that you're not trying to bite off my hand anymore an-WHOA! WHAT IS THAT THING DOING HERE!?", Owen exclaims, stumbling back slightly.
I yelp, trying to run back into the forest, but Blue is giving me that look. It's like she's saying:" Hey, you signed yourself up for this, pal. You knew what you were getting yourself into. NOW GET YOUR TAIL BACK HERE YOU BIRD!
"Ripper, come back here right now.", she says with an edge in her voice, "Stop acting like a hatchling."
Hey! What's wrong with hatchlings?
I slowly walk back to where Blue is standing. Because of Owen's yelling, the other humans I had tried to kill four years ago had started to emerge from behind the cabin. They have pretty much the same reaction as Owen. Fun.
"Owen," Blue started calmly," This is Ripper. Ripper, this is Owen."
"Huh. I'll act like I totally understood that." He smiles. I roll my eyes.
"Ugh, I forgot that humans don't understand raptor!" Blue says, annoyed.
"So, how do we tell him my name?", I ask.
"No clue. Been trying to communicate with him for years, it's been driving me insane." Blue replies.
"Bummer, I guess."
"Um...what's wrong?" Owen asks.
"Oh, nothing...oh, right, he can't understand what we're saying. That's pretty annoying, seeing as how we can understand humans but they don't understand us."
Owen watches on, hoping they aren't conspiring to murder him and his family in their sleep.
"It is. I just wish we could be understood."
That hit too close to home.
A moment of quiet fills the area, and then one of the other humans behind Owen breaks the silence by saying:
"Well...now what?"
"Well, obviously, Claire, we're gonna save Beta.", Owen says.
"Yeah, Claire!", the small human says.
"Maisie! You're not supposed to call adults by their first names!"
"Then what do I call you?"
Owen and Claire look at each other, unsure of what to reply with.
It's so obvious! Just say Mom and Dad! Simple as that! I know more than you two and I've been living under a rock for four years!..I think. Has it really been that long?
"Maisie, you've asked this before, and we've discussed this. We're...not sure about what you're supposed to call us. Technically, we are not you're parents since there are still a few months left before the adoption process is finalized, and because your past father died because of some-" the human called Claire looks at me for a moment-"...bloody conditions, and the fact that dinosaurs are terrorizing the Earth, a lot of people have got their hands full with stuff like damages to property and the fact that a lot of kids have lost their parents. Phew!" Claire takes a deep breath, and stands there, waiting for someone to do something.
Well that's a long winded way of saying "we're not your parents." But now that she's done, I think I've got a little thing to say.
"Hey, Claire, just wanna point out that I never killed Eli! I just killed his security guards!...and a few other people..."I drift off, hoping not to cause a severe case of PTSD, plus the fact that that's all I wanted to say anyway.
"Are you ever going to stop talking to the humans?"
"Oh, I forgot about that. This is really aggravating, if you couldn't tell.
"Okay, okay. But, I just need to know. Our mission is clear. Save Beta. Bring her back. Everyone lives happily ever after, yadda-yadda-yadda. But where are we actually going?" I ask Blue, concerned that this plan is as ill conceived as...well, me, I guess.
"Well, I think I have an idea about where to start."
