"Harry!"
The brunette jerked awake, eyes blurry as memories of soon to be forgotten dreams whizzed past his mind.
'Draco.. in a.. forest?' Was his first conscious thought. Almost desperately he tried remembering what his dream was of. Anything to grasp ahold on as he started growing almost frustrated at his lack of good memory.
That was when he realized there was a hand on his shoulder, gently shaking him.
Jerking his head up, squinting, he saw flaming red hair and a gentle smile.
Grimacing slightly, he smiled back crookedly.
Ginny.
Things had been.. interesting with her to say the least.
While she grew up, it was true that she did only seem to get prettier.
Her eyes seemed to shine with hidden mischief, and when she smiled her lips quirked up in a way similar to her older twin brothers. If anything, she was the girl.
The one that the "Boy Who Lived," was destined to be with.
The one that everyone expected Harry to love back unconditionally. No matter what they would go through, she was everything Harry dreamed of when he pictured a perfect life. And yet.. he couldn't find it in him to like her back. It wasn't as though he didn't try. He had. Countless times. But he didn't feel that spark. He didn't feel.. entirely complete with her.
It's not like he'd tell her that though. She was as much of a sister to him as Hermione was, and having even the slightest of chance of losing her would probably break Harry.
And just then, he felt himself get gently shook again.
Snapping back to reality, he blushed.
Not only had he been dazing out for what was probably a couple minutes, his hair was most likely a mess and he probably looked like an idiot, squinting around.
That didn't seem to faze her though. She giggled and handed Harry his glasses, to which he grinned bashfully and put them on, and she, after what seemed of eternity, finally pulled her hand away.
"Good morning Harry," she said softly, looking down at the ground, a faint shimmering of pink covering her cheeks.
"Uh mornin' Gin," he muttered, vocal cords straining due to the fact that his throat was quite parched.
Now that he thought of it, why was she in here?
Looking around, he took in his surroundings.
Ever since he'd.. well he'd said some selective things to the Dursley's, since then he'd been staying at his godfathers, in a room with his best mate, Ron.
Another fiery haired Weasley, whose temper matched that of his hair. When he had first "moved in," he had been nearly ecstatic. I mean come on, how many times does one get to stay with their best friend after nearly blowing up people out of anger?
But after the first couple of days, Harry realized that Ron had some.. annoying habits.
Even though they'd been friends for quite a while, Harry didn't know how he hadn't noticed how Ron always insisted on keeping everything on "his side" of the room.It probably wouldn't even bother Harry that much, til one day he woke up and couldn't find his wand because apparently they'd been on Ron's "side" of the room.
It turned into a whole argument because Ron insisted it wasn't a big deal, and Harry was simply grumpy because it had been quite early in the morning.
It ended with all of Harry's stuff being thrown everywhere and Ron so red-faced and seething with rage that Mrs. Weasley had to calm him down.
Since then it'd been a little awkward between the two whenever they were alone together.
Regardless, he still loved his best friend. His weird little quirks and everything.
Now that he thought about it, Harry looked over at Ron's side of the room. He wasn't there.
'Strange,' he thought, itching his head.
Bringing his attention back to Ginny, he saw that she was still staring.
Mumbling nonsense, the bleary boy got up, rubbing his face.
"Mum's waiting for you downstairs Harry," Ginny said, looking up at Harry with that oh-so familiar hidden mischief.
"Whas' yer Mum need?" Asked Harry groggily, yawning, politely covering his mouth and looking away.
She shrugged, before taking a few hesitant steps towards the door.
"Well she did send me upstairs to get you, so it's got to be important."
Her hand rested on the doorknob, and she gestured Harry towards her.Nodding, he followed her out of the room, tripping slightly as his feet dragged behind him out of exhaustion.
Soon enough he ended up at the top of the staircase, Ginny already near the bottom of the stairs. Honestly he didn't think he could get downstairs without falling on his arse, but he didn't want to keep the Weasley's waiting any longer than he had, so he trotted on slowly.
After what seemed like an eternity, he finally got to the bottom to the stairs.
Walking into the dining room, he was immediately greeted with a big hug from Mrs. Weasley herself.
"Mnng," he managed out, words sounding muffled as he felt her squeeze him tightly.
"Thank heavens you're here Harry," she said softly into his ear, giving him one squeeze before pulling away.
What the hell was going on.
"Uh yeah sure, but what's going on? Why's everyone treating me like I die-" oh God no.
Already? He had to go so soon?
It had been decided that for the safety of himself, and everyone else, that he gets moved from Grimmauld Place.
Yes, yes, it sounds very stupid. And Harry had thought the exact same when Sirius had told him. But, after a couple.. hours of explaining, he realized it was for the safety of everyone else.
Even now, as they were talking in the dining room, Harry could hear the scratching at the back door. The sounds of nails desperately trying to get in. He couldn't stand it.
It made him feel chilled in a way no dementor could.
