Chapter 4 Plus A/N

Hi! Just wanted to say, I've been seeing a lot of Caralorian/Dara/Caradin shippers not writing lately, including myself. I wanted to, first of all, apologize for not writing, and second of all, ask if there's a reason y'all aren't writing. I know I just kind of forgot. I'm not blaming anyone, if you don't want to write anymore or something it's fine. Also, should I write a Flower Husbands fanfic? I kind of want to. I'll be posting this on all of my Dara stories, sorry if you get it twice.
And now, on to the actual story thing!

Din smiled as he tucked Aidan into bed. He paused for a second, then went outside.

A flicker of orange light lit the skies in the distance--a family out camping, or a lone survivalist, perhaps.

Why am I still looking for her? He asked himself. Should I stop? No, I can't. I shouldn't-

His thoughts were interrupted by an earth-shattering bang in the distance, followed by a much closer one.

A villager ran up to him. "It's bounty hunters!" He cried. "They're after you!"

Din stood up. Fighting off the bounty hunters would be the right course of action. Yes. That's what he would do. He'd arrived on this planet before Cara, and couldn't afford to wait for her any longer.

One long, bloody battle later, Din returned to his cabin to get Aidan and their stuff.

He didn't hear the blaster until it was too late.

On Cara's ship:

Cara reached over to turn off the holocall button. Din called every night, it was a habit to ignore them. But right before she pressed Off she saw the blinking red light that meant that the call was urgent.

Surely it couldn't hurt to accept a call this once, could it?

Cara pressed the Accept call button and saw a bloody, limping version of Din.

"Help!" the crackling voice begged. "I'm on Sorgan, but me and Aidan are heading for Hoth, not far from here. A band of bounty hunters tried to destroy the village, Cara. We fought them off. Please, help us."

Cara blinked back tears and almost missed the last words.

"I love you."
