Jang Wonyoung descended the stairs of her five story mansion, looking like she was going to attend the Met Gala.
Her long, silky black hair was straight and combed back. She was wearing a baby pink ball gown that stretched so far wide I wasn't sure how she was going to fit in our limousine. An excessively ruffled tube top hugged her chest. She looked like a walking rose petal, if that makes sense. Wonyoung wore no accessory, except for the plain pearl ring on her pinky finger.
I was leaning back on the white limo with my arms crossed, wearing a baby pink suit and tie that exactly matched her gown. We talked about it while planning for our looks.
"Good afternoon, handsome," Wonyoung greeted me sweetly, holding out her hand.
"It's 5:00pm. Barely the afternoon." I smiled, took her hand, and kissed it lightly.
I opened the car door for her and held her hand to support her as she climbed inside. Then I circled to the other side and entered the car shortly after her.
Jake and his partner were in the car as well, seated directly in front of us. He hadn't noticed us coming in because he was so busy chatting up his partner, a cute girl named Liz.
He was wearing a crisp black, closed neck Mandarin suit, a similar type to the one Jay's father was wearing on his birthday. The fabric was embroidered with gold flowers. Jake took my advice on dyeing his hair blonde to match the gold flowers on his suit.
Funnily enough, Liz too, had her hair dyed blonde. I'm not sure if they talked about it. She was wearing a golden ball gown, her tube top a giant ribbon. She looked like a present.
"You must be Sunoo's brother," Wonyoung said quite loudly, pulling Jake back into reality.
Jake turned to look at her, surprised, and cracked a huge smile. "Oh. Yes, I'm Sunoo's brother. Jake Sim." He reached out a hand. "And you must be?"
"Jang Wonyoung." Wonyoung giggled as she shook his hand.
"Jang Geunwon's daughter, right?" Jake asked, pointing at her. "Holly House?"
"That's correct." Wonyoung nodded in approval. "You know your household names."
I sat there awkwardly. Maybe I should learn about all these important names too if I really want to be a part of this society.
"Oh and Sunoo, this is Liz Kim." Jake gestured towards his partner enthusiastically. "She's a little shy."
"Kim Sunoo," I said to her, smiling timidly as we shook hands.
The ride to school was quite uneventful, apart from Jake initiating conversation here and there. I looked at Wonyoung, and she looked back at me, squeezing my hand.
I remember how unbelievably satisfying it felt when I first walked into campus with Wonyoung by my side, feeling all the attention on us. I remember spending an entire day with her and her seamstress, wracking our brains to choose a nice fabric for her gown, and then bringing it over to my tailor so he knew which fabric to use on my suit. I even came over to her house a few times so we could perfect the dance. Then I crashed her closet and her vanity table. It felt nice to talk to somebody I shared the same interests with after a long time since I was shoved into that testosterone school.
