Flying was one of the most relaxing things I knew. It helped me sleep. And Goddess knows I needed the sleep. However I was having hard time finding sleep. I tossed a little in my seat before Liv returned to me with a mimosa. I raised an eyebrow at her.
"It's kinda early," I reminded her but to the glass from her anyway. "And I am not much of a drinker!" Liv laughed out loud now as she sat down across from me.
"Once you are at Court for a few weeks you will change your mind. Wine will become your best friend!" she assured me. I sighed and sipped the drink. "It is not that bad. Once you get used to things, it will be a piece of cake!" I fought the urge to scowled at her. She was still under the impression that I would be staying after I met the King. I had places to be. People to look for. My parents had to be alive. The questions were piling up now and I needed answers sooner rather than later. I sipped my drink once more.
"The King was at the meeting of the Mountain," I said and stared out the window.
Liv looked up at me now. She stared at me for a moment before removing her reading glasses from her thin nose. "The previous King was, yes," she confirmed. "He was killed that night."
I didn't look at her. "My parents made it out," I said. "Or at least my father. He was Alpha-"
Liv set her phone aside now. "There no Alpha's anymore," she reminded me. "Just the King. Alpha of us all. One of the three."
I nodded. Of course. One of the Three. One of the most powerful men in the world. And I was to be his bride in a matter of weeks. I had been trying to process it but I could still not see myself as a Queen, let alone someone's Mate. I looked down at myself. Still dressed in the black leather jacket and black leggings. I was nothing but skin and bone. How could any man want me? How could a King want me? The plane started moving and I suddenly felt like I was going to be sick. If I was leaving New York. Headed to Vancouver. Only a few hours away from where my old Pack House had been. As soon as I was able, with or without this King's blessing I would be going back to home. I was not sure how or when, but I was determined to get there.
"You should get some rest," Liv told me. "This will be a long flight."
I nodded and leaned back into my soft leather seat. It was big enough for three people to sit comfortably beside me. Liv tossed me a silk blanket and then took a seat on the other side of the isle. I watched her pull her laptop from her bag and she began typing away. "What are you doing?" I asked her. Liv smiled at me.
"One of the more boring aspects of my job," she said with a laugh. "Everyone at the Academy has a file from the moment they meet the King."
I shook my head. "The Academy?" I echoed.
Liv nodded. "Yes, since the war my brother decided to move his Army there," she said and typed away on her laptop. I sighed and sat back into my seat. I needed sleep. I knew I had gotten enough sleep before but I was completely drained now. I puffed up my pillow a little staried out the window. The plane started moving and I closed my eyes as my insides did backflips and somersaults, helping me drift off into an easy sleep...I was standing on the bank of some lake. It was beautiful here. The trees were tall and the air was clear. This place was untouched. Preserved from the cruel advances of men. Life thrived here. Birds chirped loudly in the trees and I turned when I heard the soft padding of pawed feed thudded against the forest floor. BUt what I saw when I turned was the blond haired man who had been haunting my every waking moment. I had been unable to stop thinking of him. And now he was here, so close. I could reach out and touch him if I wanted to.
However I never got to do or say anything to the man. He moved forward, his hands locking around my waist, his face sliding along the inside of my neck. He breathed in slowly and I felt myself stiffen. I pushed him away but he didn't budge. He leaned away, looking down at me, his face amused. Then he did something I should have slapped him for.
The man reached and pulled me closer, placing a soft kiss right on my jaw. I shuddered against his hard frame and goosebumps rippled over my skin. "Mine," he growled at me, making my legs quiver. I pushed him away again and this time he leaned away. His arms loosened and I pushed myself free of him. The man smirked at me and slowly started walking toward me.
"No!" I told him and held out a hand to stop him. My hand slid up his rock hard, perfectly sculpted and tanned skin.
