I was so excited!

It was my first day of my third year of college. I've done a lot of efforts to be where I am now. I have sacrified my weekends, my "love life" and I'm not complaining but I needed to graduate from college in order to obtain permission to go around Europe for sixth months.

I was so damn excited about going to Paris! I always wanted to go to Europe. And I wasn't planning on going alone, I was going with my best friend. She was as excited as I am. I mean she studied in the same university as me, even the same carreer!

Too cheesy right? But since we were kids we promised we would go to college together no matter what and thanks God we loved the same things, thefore we ended up studying the same thing.

Mom said that I could do whatever I wanted once I gave her my graduation diploma. I never complained because I was the one that choose to go to the most prestigious university in the country and here I was.

I still lived with her for two reasons. One, it was a lot cheaper but that didn't mean it was easier. My mom had her rules and I had mine, but she was my mom and I loved her. Plus, I tried to see things through her "mother perspective", I mean I am 19 and to her eyes, I'm still her daughter who lives in her house so therefore I have to follow her rules. I was ok with that but I tried to be as independent as possible..... except for money.

I wasn't working so she paid everything. I was reluctant to continue like that so I had though I maybe could start working. But that was a different story.

The second reasons is that Carolina lived one block away from me, she had her own reasons to stay in her parents' house and since I wanted to be close to her because she was like my sister, I decided to stay.

- Mom I'm leaving see you at night!

- Ok honey, don't forget your water! Did I give you money?

- Right! No, you didn't!

I went to my mother's room and there she was, as usual, getting ready for work. My mom was the best, she never spoiled me like a little girl, but hell she knew how to be a mom! She rocked it. She made me strong, determinated, smart and considerated, I mean I had my flaws but com'on I was a prety damn good daughter.

- Honey, don't forget the money, then how are you going to buy lunch?

- Yes mom, it's just that I'm a little nervous. It's the first day and you know I suck at first days.

She came close and huged me the way she always did when I was unsure about something.

- My little baby doll, it's gonna be ok. Don't worry you always have good grades, you always make friends and the most important Carolina is going with you.

- I know, I'll do my best. Love you mom. See you at night.

Wow she was really generous today, she gave me 50 bucks for my first day. Mom was always like that when I had my first days of school and now, college.

I walked to the next street and waited for Carolina at the door. I sent her a text telling her I was at her door. She was always late. But finally, and fortunately, she came out.

- Noelia! Oh my god I'm sorry I'm late but guess what?

- What's with the formality?

- Oh I love you too, I was just trying to say your whole name haha. Guess it's wierd. But guess what Noe?

- You're going to pay for the bus tickets today since you are late? - I put my puppy face, which she never resisted.

- Ok no, better than that. I HAVE A CAR!!

- OMG YOU HAVE A CAR! Wait, when, how? I saw you yesterday and you didn't say anything!

- Mom bought the car 3 weeks ago and she didn't know if it would be ready for today so she never said a word but the car just got here so it's all brand new! We won't have to take the bus anymore.

- Are you kidding me? I'm so happy for you! That's an awesome gift! - I gave her a hug. We always talked about this. We were waiting for the day when one of us had a car and the places we would visit in it, and so the day was today. I couldn't be more happy for her.

- Ok, let's go we are late.

We got to her garage and her car was so freaking awesome. It was a volkswagen passat 2015. I loved cars and of course this was an excellent car for her, who was a student. We screamed and jumped and laughed. Then we got on the car and she started the engine and we were on our way to the university.

So here we were, going on a brand new car, with my best friend ever to star our third year.of college. I couldn't ask for more. I was a lucky girl. I wasn't rich, but my mom worked hard her entire life so I could have everything I needed. I had my best friend who I could always rely on. Nothing could be better.

Or so I thought.
