𝚃𝚆: 𝙶𝚊𝚜𝚕𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐

----------------------------------

Ava walked up to the counter where El was taking their break. El works in a local coffee shop that reminds one of an off brand starbucks.

Ava has known known El since they were 5 and 6 respectively. She considers them to be one of her best friends.

"Can I tell you a secret?" Ava asked

"I don't know. Can you tell me a secret?" El responded.

"I mean, if I tell you a secret, would you promise not to tell?"

"I promise not to tell."

"My secret?"

"Yes, my secret?"

"You have a secret?"

"I'm going to need an operation." Ava blurts

"Oh, thank goodness!" El says and breathes a sigh of relief.

"What do you mean??" Ava askes confused.

"I thought you were going to say I need an operation."

"Why would I say that?"

"I don't know. Why would you say that?"

"I wouldn't.

"Thanks. I knew I could trust you." They said semi-sincerely

"But I'm very upset about this!" Ava protested.

"If you are going to be upset, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." El stated professionally.

"What?"

"You need to control yourself."

"I came to you for help."

"Help? Is there a fire?"

"No, there's no fire."

"That's good. But you shouldn't go around yelling "fire."

"I didn't!" Ava said, exasperated.

"You are getting upset." El cautioned.

"I thought we were friends..." she trailed off.

"Really? I thought we were owls."

"Can you be serious for one moment?"

"I am serious. I am always serious," They said, making a serious face.

"You're making fun of me."

"Am I? Are you having fun?"

"No. Now I'm angry."

"You are upset."

"I'm not talking to you."

"Yes, you are. You just did."

"This is why no one likes you and you have no friends."

"That's not funny." El deadpanned.

Ava stormed out of the coffee shop. She no longer considered El her best friend.
