FIVE
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

"so y'all have been talking everyday?" talia asks, seeming genuinely excited. she was clad in a pastel purple sweatsuit with her ginger locs in space buns. jonah, who was in baggy pants and a equally baggy shirt, pursed her lips to try and hide her smile. her braids were down in contrast to her friend, the curled ends on display as they hung a little past her bottom.

"mainly at night though, because he be busy with dancing. and girl, have you seen him dance?!"

jonah's demeanor changed when the boy's talent was mentioned. talia shook her head. "i don't think i have, why? is he bad at it?"

jonah barely let the girl finish her sentence. "bad?? girl no! he's so good, like, i can't even explain it. i watched the videos he has on his page. he's good." the girl used her hands to emphasize her point.

"maybe he can teach you how to-" talia smirked as she replied but rolled her eyes when she was cut off.

"aht." jonah raised her hand to stop her. "i wish you would stop bringing up the fact that i'm a negro with no rhythm."

"but it's so funny-"

"it's not."

there was suddenly a voice that called talia's name from down the hall.

"lili, what i tell you about talking to that girl?" came the playful voice of zayne. he wore a smirk on his face as he looked at the two and immediately wrapped his arm around his lover. jonah had a scowl on her face at the "mention" of her, but she couldn't keep it up with the presence of another body with homewrecker.

"oh, hey riki." talia spoke, face contorted into a smile. it seemed innocent, but jonah knew it wasn't. there was an undertone in her voice and she wished she could attack the girl for it.

he stood there, tall as ever, in a large orange hoodie-a white shirt peaking out from the bottom of it-paired with some baggy-ish blue jeans. "hey." he spoke simply.

"you not gone speak to jonah?" came zayne's voice, he had the same tone his girlfriend had.

jonah wished the couple six feet under.

"hey jonah..." he uttered, his eyes on her.

"hey..." she awkwardly responded with a wave, diverting her own eyes from his.

there was a snort from zayne.

"don't y'all text? how can you be awkward right now?" talia spoke.

jonah shot her a glare, one that could kill.

the bell saved her though.

"let's go tal. see you love birds later." zayne practically sang to the two. it took jonah everything in her being to not send him a very intense middle finger.

it was now just riki and jonah at her locker, her awkwardly standing there and him just... there.

"what's your first hour?" he finally asked.

"mr. jones. it's earth science..."

"oh..."

"yeah..." she nodded her head, lips pursed.

the one minute warning bell rang, cutting the painfully awkward silence short.

"i... could walk you there..." he spoke up.
