jonah let out a grunt of annoyance at the sudden video call from him. "yes?" his curious face changed at the sound of her tone.

"tell me what's wrong."

"nothing is wrong." she sighed.

"don't lie to me. just tell me."

there was a pause as she thought of how to express what she had been thinking this whole day. maybe she had been petty not to tell him in the first place, but she was upset. she didn't feel like talking to him earlier.

"two times today, people asked me about us. they asked what we were, like, if we were boyfriend and girlfriend and it made me think: 'what are we?'. i'm just annoyed that we've been talking for three whole months, talking on the phone and everything, both knowing we wanna go out, and not doing that. i don't wanna rush stuff but i also wanna know what's up. like, what are we? what are we gonna be?" she ranted. she looked at him through the camera as he stared at her. he was in bed, one of his usual spots unless he was at the studio dancing.

"why didn't you just say that, then? why did i have to force it out of you?" he replied, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

jonah said nothing at first. he was kind of right about that. "just answer the question."

he looked away for a second. "to be honest, i'm kinda weird with dating. my ex ruined some stuff for me and i'm just trying to see how i actually feel about the thought of dating you before anything happens." he bit the inside of his cheek again.

was he serious?

"since when did you have commitment issues because of your ex? i ain't never heard you say anything about something like that. and 'trying to see how you actually feel about me' makes it seem like you wasn't being genuine this whole time we been talking." jonah was getting heated.

"i didn't mean it like that, i'm just saying that i'm a little scared to be in a relationship-"

"so then why didn't you say it like that in the first place? and why didn't you tell me more about your ex and how she had made you feel? you had me, at one point, thinking you were gonna ask me out soon, but you been hiding the fact that you not over something your ex did. that's stuff you usually bring up in the first weeks of talking."

"can i talk now?" he asked, face serious.

"go ahead."

but he had nothing to say. he was in the wrong. who doesn't mention the fact that they've developed-what was assumed to be-commitment issues after a bad break up to a potential new partner?

jonah only hummed at his speechlessness.

he still said nothing, opting for looking into the camera with his lips pursed.

"bye riki." she clicked the red button to end their call.
