The next day I'm sitting in a doctor's office waiting to be called back.
"Ms. Halliwell," the nurse calls out my name. I stand and follow her back to an empty room.
"So, Ms. Halliwell, what brings you in today?" she asks, staring at her laptop.
"I took a home pregnancy test, and it came back positive," I answer.
"Okay, I'm gonna take your vitals, and the doctor will be in soon."
Once done, she leaves, leaving me to wait. I try not to panic and think positively.
Five minutes later, there was a knock on the door, and the doctor came in.
"So, Ms. Halliwell, I hear you might be pregnant," she says.
"Well, that's what the home test said. How often are those things wrong?"
"You would be surprised," she states. "Okay, let's find out, go ahead and lay back," she adds. I do as she said, getting nervous.
"Okay, Ms. Halliwell, I'm going to pull your pants down a bit and put some jelly on your abdomen for the ultrasound."
I nod my head. "Okay," I say, taking a deep breath.
"Okay, Ms. Halliwell, this is gonna be cold," she squeezes the jelly on me, and I hiss 'damn, that is cold,' I thought. She spreads the jell around with the curvilinear, and I watch the screen trying to make out what I was seeing. After a minute, she stops.
"Okay, do you see that bean-looking thing there?" she asks, pointing at it.
"Yes?"
"Well, that's your baby. I would say your about eight or nine weeks," she then freezes the screen, and I sit up still in shock. " Would you like a picture?" she asks.
I nod my head "yes, please," I answer, then I suddenly burst into tears. I drop my head in my hands.
"I take it this wasn't planned?"
"No, it wasn't," I said between sobs.
"Does the father know?"
"No"
"Well, you do have options Ms. Halliwell."
I snap my head up and look at the doctor, disapproving, "absolutely not," I snap at her.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend I have to tell you about it so you know you have options," she mutters.
"Thank you, but that's not an option for me, I've always wanted children, just not under these circumstances."
"Okay well let me print this out for you and give you brouchors for resources in anything you need help with."
"Thank you."
Later that day, I lay in bed staring at the ultrasound picture, slowly accepting this pregnancy. Finally, I decided to head to New Orleans early. I will have to do this sooner or later, and I'd rather it be sooner.
Six hours later, I checked into a hotel. I spend the remaining day in my room trying to find the courage to tell Klaus about the baby, scared of how he will react. After I shower, I lay in bed to sleep for the night, and I'll head to the compound in the morning.
I dressed in sweat pants and a tank top early the following day. I grab my keys and leave to talk to Klaus. I sit parked out front of the compound, talking to myself. "Okay, Piper, you can do this. You're going to raise this baby with or without him. You can do this." I say out loud to myself. I get out of the car, walk to the door, and knock, waiting for someone to answer, but I rush through the door when I hear Klaus shouting. I see a group of demons and witches ready to fight. In the middle are Klaus, Rebekah, Freya, and Marcel. A demon charges toward Klaus. I lift my hands, flicking my fingers to blow him up. Everyone turned to look at me. The demons and the witches looked at me in fear, 'my reputation perceives me,' I thought. Klaus and Marcel were surprised to see me. Rebekah and Freya smiled. They were glad to see me.
"I'm sorry I'm late there was something I had to take care of. Rumor has it a war has started. Well, I'm here to end it, so I strongly suggest all of you leave." While waiting for them to leave, I looked at every one of them. "NOW!!!" I shout, the demons disappear, and the witches walk to the door.
"You know Klaus I'm kinda getting tired of saving your ass."
"I didn't ask you to Piper," he replied angrily.
"Well, I guess it's a good thing you can't be killed."
Rebekah and Freya move past him to come toward me.
"You came," Rebekah says, hugging me.
"It's so good to see you," Freya says, pulling me to hug her. She pulls back and looks at me with big eyes. Quickly realizing why she was giving me that look, I shake my head and shush her asking her to keep quiet with a look. She nods and steps away.
"Why are you here, Piper?" Klaus asks in a cold tone. I don't blame him; I didn't leave on good terms.
"Well, Klaus, there I was minding my own business when I got a call from a dear friend, telling me you've gotten yourself in a bit of trouble. So naturally, I had to come back here and bail you out of the mess you have created," I say with sarcasm. I can see Rebekah and Freya smirking out of the corner of my eye.
"I wonder who that could've been," he looks towards Rebekah.
"I don't think that's really important right now, wouldn't you say?" I frown crossing my arms over my chest. The tension between Klaus and I was so thick I'm sure everyone in the room could feel it.
"Anyways, I don't care about what you do or don't do, but I need to talk to you, so can we go somewhere else, please?" I ask, almost begging. He storms up the stairs to his room. I glance at Freya before following Klaus, and she gives me a reassuring look.
"So what do you want, Piper?" he asks bitterly, pouring himself a drink.
I sigh. "I have something to tell you, but I don't know how," I say, my voice shaky with fear.
"You can't just come barging in here after three bloody months and act like everything is dandy," he said with so much venom.
"Goddamit Klaus, I didn't come here expecting anything!" I shout. I looked down, trying to hide that I was hurt. I'm not mad. I don't blame him for his resentment towards me. "Look, Klaus, I'm sorry for how I left things. I was angry and hurt, you left my bed before I woke, and then that dog attacked me, and you defended her," I yelled, not meaning to, but every emotion came rushing back.
"She is the mother of my child, of course I was going to bloody protect her and my child," he yells.
"A CHILD YOU DIDN'T EVEN WANT!" I shout in his face, my brows furrowed in anger.
"THAT STILL GIVES YOU NO RIGHT TO HARM MY CHILD!" he hollers in response.
"KLAUS I'M PREGNANT!!" I vociferate. I take a deep breath to calm myself. He looks at me with wide eyes from shock.
"You're lying," he says in disbelief.
"It's true," I said, pulling out the ultrasound picture and handing it to him. "I didn't believe it at first either until I saw this," I add. He takes it from me to look at the little bean growing inside me. Then, still in disbelief, he throws the picture at me. I watch as it falls to the floor. I slowly lifted my head, and my eyes turned black with anger, looking at him. The room starts to shake as my anger rises—seconds later, Rebekah bursts through the door.
"PIPER DON'T!" she shouts. I glance at her, and she walks toward me and puts her arms around me, bringing me closer to her. I began to calm down, and she pulled away, stepping back. I bend down to pick up the ultrasound picture, and tears form in my eyes. I lift my head and look at Klaus.
"I will raise this baby with or without you. I don't need you, Klaus. I never did," a single tear rolls down my cheek. "I feared your reaction, but I hoped you would be a part of this. I guess your dog is more important to you than I am. You got what you wanted, Rebekah. I stopped the war, now I have a baby to take care of." I said, then turned and walked out.
