"Welcome to the United States! Can I get you a lemonade?"
The voice was unfamiliar to her.
Yet somehow she couldn't help but laugh.
It only took a second for her to open her eyes and the moment she exhaled, she could see the warm glow of the fresh morning sun permeating through the sheer curtains of her bedroom.
She furrowed her brow, her blue eyes attempting to blink away the light that had pierced her grogginess.
She was confused.
Was that dream some sort of
lost memory?Marinette sat up, another deep sigh escaping her lips as the more she thought about it, the more it had began to slip her mind.
The visuals, the voice, the unfamiliar time and place. She'd be lying to herself if she said it didn't peak her interest
but Marinette was beginning
to worry that she had short term memory loss.Marinette gasped, her eyes immediatley shutting with pain as the back of her
right leg began to ache intensely.
If she were grateful to the memory loss, it would be that she had forgotten about the whole accident. The last thing she needed was to be plagued by nightmares in regards to what had happened that night.
But that was only a few of her problems
It had been a solid three months since she was released from the hospital.Being at home for that long, Marinette was finally reunited with her sewing machine, her sketch book and her dress form mannequin.
She couldn't let her medical ailments get into her way anymore.
Marinette desperatley wanted
to start her first day of IFA. She simply couldn't wait anymore. The excitement was just too much!Marinette had already enrolled for fall courses, the only thing left to do was attend. Sure, classes were already in session and it would be a little awkward to jump into it while it was halfway through.
But that stuff didn't matter to her anymore.
How much could she handle?
She already made it this far with the help of her parents as well as physical therapy. She didn't want to be cooped up in her house anymore. She was ready to continue her life which had been her plans since they told her she was leaving the hospital.
Marinette reached down, rubbing the back of her leg with trepidation.
"Ow ow, ow" she whimpered, swinging her legs over towards the edge of the bed so that she dould climb out.
She could already smell her mother's homemade mango tea and her father's fresh baked croissants.
After being home for this amount of time, there was one thing she knew she'd never forget.
It has never a dull breakfast when it came to the Dupain-Chengs!
Marinette bit her lip as she slowly stood up. She carefully limped towards her bedroom door with determination.
The young woman flung open her bedroom door open with ease. She didn't even bother changing her sweats and pyjama T-shirt.
She had a job to do.
"Don't eat all the croissants!" She rasped. "I'm coming down!"

"Did I ever travel to America?"
Marinette glanced up, poking at her eggs with a fork.
Marinette pressed her lips together as a suble blush dusted her freckled cheeks."I had a dream that someone was trying to buy me Lemonade..." her voice trailed off slightly. It was an awkward situation for sure, but Marinette couldn't curb her curiosity unless she asked.
She knew this would be a common occurrence. Of course she was sure her memories weren't lost forever, but she expected them to return in small fragments over time.
Sabine glanced up at Marinette, slowly placing her mug of mango tea down against the dining table.
Tom paused, blinking rapidly for a brief moment before he too glanced at Marinette.
It was almost as if they were surprised that she could remember something like that."You did." Sabine replied, a small smile spreading across her lips. "A very long time ago for a school trip. You made a lot of friends along the way, but I can't believe you remembered something from over a year ago-"
"Not that it's bad-" Tom interjected with a nervous laugh. "It's a good thing. We're glad that you're remembering good things that happened."
Sabine sighed, shaking her head slightly before she glanced at Tom once more.
"I'm just worried that you'll start remembering the bad things." Sabine continued. "It was a horrible horrible night and the accident definitely changed our lives..." her voice trailed off, almost as if her emotions were threatening to take over. "I just don't want you to remember that."
Marinette frowned.
She could only imagine how guilty her parents must've felt since they didn't suffer injuries as bad as she did. Marinette didn't want her parents to have nightmares about the incident."Mama..." Marinette murmured, sliding her hand across the table to grab her mother's. "I promise I'm okay. At least for right now I can't remember a thing about that accident, and if somehow in the future I do, then we can all figure it out together. I promise I can handle it. I'm a big girl."
Sabine glanced down at their hands, her other hand slowly laying on top of her daughters.
"If you remember anything from that night, I mean anything. Please let us know..." Sabine replied, her voice soft and pliable. "We'll do everything we can to help."
Marinette nodded, offering her mom a small smile of reassurance. She squeezed her mothers hand, the air around them suddenly becoming thick.
Marinette had began second guessing herself. She knew her mom was just trying to help, but the moment she brought up anything in regards to her memory only seemed to rile her parents up.
She pressed her lips together, resuming back to her breakfast as she wasn't sure if bringing up anything about her weird dreams meant to be a good idea.
She wanted nothing more than to change the subject."So..." Marinette continued, quickly popping an egg into her mouth. "Speaking of school trips..." she smiled shyly, placing her fork down against her plate. "I think I'm ready to start my semester at IFA..."
