"Four years don waka we still dey carry go, nobody waka, nobody go solo, Baba God e o, na your Grace o, na your Grace o adupe o."

The hot beat from Stylplus hit the airwaves of my faculty's open field as three department's Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science danced to the rhythm with excitement of what seems to be the end of stressful stay in school. Attending a Nigerian University is in itself an award, not to talk of graduating!

The process of gaining admission, securing the admission to starting the school year and finishing has its rigorous ups and downs. So on this particular day, it was indeed a call to victory, more like a breath of fresh air! It was indeed a time of joy as graduands - successful and non-sucessful ones decided to celebrate freedom! The non-successful ones like myself already knew our fate but heyyy who cares, make we still enjoy dey go right? Deep down in our hearts we knew we were going to return to write failed exams but that didn't stop the gyration! Graduating from a faculty like Physical Sciences and a department like Mathematics with a carryover felt like taking a bath every morning, it didn't feel strange probably why I didn't feel so much pain at first....

Felicitations, pictures and lots more were the order of the day whilst preparations were made for the award night, somebody say night party in Benin? You heard right! I was involved with the planning process as the socialite and popular gingo that I was. I heard I'd be winning an award - that felt awesome to my ego. At least, if I wasn't graduating with my mates, an award won't be bad yeah.

I hurriedly left the field and rushed to the hostel to get myself ready. My simple dress was ready - a combination of coffee brown and biege colour with a high rising 'you-can't-ignore-me' bow attached to the right. It was a sleeves, knee length gown. I had looked forward to really wearing this dress. I didn't have the matching clutch bag to go with it, so I had to borrow from a friend's friend. I just had to look the look. I needed to document every moment so I also borrowed my room mates camera. Night was fast approaching and the calls started coming in

"Amara where you dey na"
"I'm coming on, you'll soon see me"

I was in charge of a particular section and i was needed. However, I couldn't go alone because I had made arrangements with a friend to take me alonge. Some of my classmates called me to follow them but I hesitated and would rather be driven by him.

Time was going, and I really needed to attend this party. It was already dark, and I felt tensed. His number wasn't reachable which is so unlike him. I tried severally to reach him but to no avail.

What do I do?

The decision between staying back in the hostel or going out this late lay before me.

What do I do?

I thought really hard.

My phone was buzzing. I have an award to take. I was needed tonight, and oh its my final year dinner. Even if I wasn't graduating with others the least I could do was celebrate together.

What do I do?

I picked up all my stuff and off I went into the dark to find my way to town, what happened from then onwards created a memory......
