"How we met..."It was Christmas eve on my first year, it was raining and my parents went on a trip, deciding to left me at Hogwarts for any matter so far, I remember it so vividly, so brightly how we met. I was in the dining hall, on the table of my house, Slytherin. And when I saw this girl, so spontaneous and looked like box filled with joy and surprises. She looked at me and walked towards me and asked why I was alone in a very strong tone, to so I replied.
"My friends couldn't stay this Christmas with me and my parents are in a trip, so I had to stay at school." Said Mei-Ling with a sweet smile.
"Well, I can stay with you if you liked, my grandparents are having a Christmas party at my uncle's house so they couldn't come to pick me up this Christmas." Said the girl within a cute and rather wide smile, but with her iconic strong tone.
"What's your name?" Asked Mei with curiosity.
"Jessica! Jessica Petrova!" Said with an very strong but difficult accent to pronounce.
"Where are you from?" Asked Mei with a confused look on her face, her accent didn't sound familiar.
"Well, I was born in London, but my whole family including my parents are Russian, so I guess my tone can make people think I am from somewhere else." Said Jessica with a nervous smile.
"Oh, and... where are your parents?" Asked Mei to her kindly.
"Well, they died when I was five years old, so I never got to know them properly, but my Babulya(бабушка) has always told me that they were very sweet and loving parents." Said Petrova in very sweet way, trying to not make Mei sad.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that..." Said Mei worried in case of having hurt her feelings.
"It's alright, like I said, never got to meet them properly." Said Jessica with kindly smile.
"What is a babulya(бабушка)?" Asked Mei with confusion and curiosity.
"It's a way of saying in Russian Grandma, I also call her Baba(Баба) sometimes." She smiled kindly.
"Oh well, I'm Chinese." She said feeling sort of proud of her self.
"Oh, that sounds nice! How do you say Grandmother in your language?" She asked with excitement to learn something as the typical Ravenclaw she can be.
"We say Grandmother in different ways, the most common is Zûmû(祖母), but there are other ways, for example Nâinai(奶奶)." She said answering her question kindly and the girl, Jessica, looked quite excited while she listened her explain it.
We spend hours talking in the dining hall with the nightly roof on top of us with the floating candles, it was a very magical night if you can so call it that way, after all, is Hogwarts that we are talking about.
Soon enough Jessica commented something that it would have be the thing that made her decide to be a teacher.
"You know, you a very good explainer if you ask me, that is a very good skill for a teacher!" Said Jessica with happiness.
"Oh well, Thank you! But I have never thought about being a teacher, perhaps I could be that when I'm older." Said Mei-Ling with a smirk on her face.
Hours passed by and it was late, no students were around the hall, except for Jessica and Mei who were walking through the halls trying to get to their houses without getting caught by any teacher and less of Mrs. Cromwel.
"Psst!... Jessica!..." Said whispering loudly at Petrova who was trying her best to think of a good plan to not get caught.
"Shh!... I'm trying to get us out of the halls without getting caught..." She looked serious and focus onto whatever was on her mind, it was a whole different version of herself, she looked under pressured.
"Are you alright?—" Mei was then interrupted by Jessica hushing her once more.
Jessica then looked at the light that slide throw the door crack showing the shadow of Mrs. Cromwel silhouette.
"Wingardium Leviosa..." She then made a pebble float on the air and throw it at the library, making the teacher, Mrs. Cromwel, go towards the library thinking someone was there. Soon enough, they passed by the hall and were closed enough, at least to the Ravenclaws house, but as soon as they touched the railing of the stairs to go up into the house, the 'Demon Queen' caught them in the late hours of night.
The next day came by and so the after class detention as well, they were in the potions class room, writing down into the pieces of paper in her notebook the frase 'I will not be at late hours of night around the hallways of the school' for over fifty times already.
We were bored and so Mrs. Cromwel left the class to go to the bathroom, and I called George by whistling a few times loud enough for him to hear and told him.
"Can you go and give this to Bethalie?" Said Mei with hope in her eyes, in return, the feathered friend replied with a head gesture as a 'yes'. George flew away towards the Hufflepuff house, but then Jessica told Mei.
"Hey, Bethalie is not at school, remember?" Said Jessica with calm tone.
"Oh! Right... well, when she comes back, she'll get it." Respond Wong with a relief smile on her face.
