Kelly and I got into a pretty huge argument today when she arrived at my home with our daughter. I have physical custody over Ariana so all decisions need to go through me so you can only imagine my surprise when my fourteen year old came home with a new haircut and highlights in her hair.

Ariana is a beautiful girl but it's a very grown up cut and I'm mad that Kelly didn't consult me on this before taking our daughter to the hair salon. If I was petty, I would have took this to the courts but I think I was able to get my point across after an hour of yelling.

"You guys look like twins now." Kelly sighs in adoration as she takes a picture of Ariana and I. "We need a waiter to take our picture, we look like the cutest family."

"Don't get your hopes up." I snort while taking a long sip of my red wine. "I'm still mad at you."

"Micah you need to get over it." Kelly purses her lips at me. "Ariana is fourteen years old and she deserves more than a little trim here or there."

"Daddy." Ariana pouts at me. "I thought you'd like my hair because it looks like yours."

"So why are you wearing a teeny tiny dress?" I give her a look as she adjusts her dress for the hundredth time

"So why are you wearing a teeny tiny dress?" I give her a look as she adjusts her dress for the hundredth time. "You're not even wearing shorts under them."

"Micah." Kelly pinches the bridge of her nose. "You're being an overbearing parent."

"I'm being a responsible parent." I snap at her. "If you had primary care over a child then you would understand what I am feeling. You should have consulted me before taking her to the hair salon and taking her shopping to buy this barely there dress. She is fourteen for goodness sakes. If it weren't for me sitting where I am, she would be exposing herself to the entire restaurant."

Ariana bows her head, "I'm sorry."

"You don't need to apologise." I kiss the top of her head while glaring at Kelly. "I'm not mad at you for wanting a change, I just want you to be safe. You may be oblivious to the world around you but I'm not and I know the dangers that are out there. I'm not trying to be sexist or tell you what you can or can't do, I simply want protect you. You are a very beautiful girl and I'm not the only one who sees that."
