IT WAS A NORMAL WEATHER. People are roaming in every street of Shinganshina district, either doing some errands, chatting with friends, or anything else people normally do.
Valentina Desmond was at the market, purchasing some goods her father asked for. She looked around a bit, watching as people were doing their things.
While passing near the little river, she saw three kids her age sitting, and looking at a book with both fascination and interest. There was one girl with jet black hair, a boy with short brown hair, and another with short blonde.
''Oh to have friends.'' She said in a low voice, with a hint of sarcasm in. Since her closest friend left, she didn't have any, as kids don't really like approaching her.
While walking away, all of sudden, a big lightning appeared, blinding the alentour for a split second. Then followed a big earthquake that scared the people of the district.
What could it possibly be?! She was in shock. Nothing like this has ever occurred. She followed where the people were going, near the wall, only to be met with a monstrous sight.
There was a big steam coming from outside the wall, and a gigantesc hand grapping the wall. The hand was skinless. She watches, as something revealed slowly from outside.
The more it revealed, the more her curiosity turns into fear, and the longer she looks the more afraid she becomes. She feels like she might faint, or cry. She doesn't know which emotion it would be worse for, and she doesn't want to think about it either. Just as she wants to turn around, rocks of the wall came flying towards them.
The wall got destroyed.
Those rocks killed simple habitants, homes, everything.
While trying to dodge those deadly rocks, Valentina ran toward her home, to search for her father.
Please dad be okay! Just as she reaches her house, she founds a boulder covering the front of it. With blood.
Not wanting to believe whose blood it is. She approaches slowly, her heartbeat increasing every step.
''Dad?'' She said in a low whisper, just as she saw his figure under the rock. ''Let me help you.''
''No Val, you should go. The titans will get you.'' She didn't want to hear what her dad said to her. She wanted to leave this district with him.
''I won't let you here alone.'' She said, trying to push the boulder.
It didn't move even a bit. It was too big for her. But she still tried, even if it means loosing her hands.
''Look Val there is a titan coming you should really leave!'' True to his word, there was a 10 meter titan coming her direction.
But she didn't want to let her father here alone. She continued trying, while the titan was already towering above her.
''Val!'' Lifting her head, she saw the titan coming. As it was near, it didn't see the father, and ignorantly crushed his body, infront of the daughter's eyes.
She was frozen of terror. She couldn't believe what just happened. She couldn't move.
''Dad?'' Suddenly, the titan crouches down, only to grab the girl's hand with its teeth.
''Ahh!'' Valentina screamed both of terror and pain. It lifted her, digging its teeth into her hand.
Just as it was about to stand up, a soldier came up and killed the titan, without forgetting the girl.
''Be careful! Go find the ships that are leaving the district and hope in. Don't worry, everything is going to be alright.'' The garrison soldier said, handing a tissue to wrap her bleeding hand.
Processing for a time what just happened, she nodded after a few seconds, and made her way out.
While on her way, she saw the scenery. Blood everywhere, limbs and so on. It reminded her that just a few minutes ago, she lost her dad.
Arriving, she saw the boat, and many people trying to hop on. Since she was a kid, it wasn't really difficult for her.
In the boat, she saw two of the kids she have seen at the edge of the river. One crying, and what she assumed cursing.
She later saw the other kid. She sat and buried her face in her hand, silently crying because her father will never come back. She promised herself that she will join the training corps, become a soldier, and avenge her father's death.
