Marry me

After escaping Tartarus, both Percy and Annabeth struggled with anxiety and PTSD on top of their dyslexia and ADHD. Only the comfort of being by each other's side was enough to keep their emotions at bay and soon everyone had picked up on that fact. Apollo was eventually sent down to help not only them but many of the demigods that struggled with the fears the past two wars had caused. Percy learned that music helped calm them down and Apollo was more than happy to teach him how to play the guitar. Leo returned soon after and was quick to develop demigod free monster signal phones for them all to use.

It was because of this phone, that Percy stumbled upon Bruno Mar's song "Marry Me" . He instantly fell in love with it and begun to teach himself how to sing along with playing the guitar to perfect it. Percy could soon be found every night by the campfire singing for not just him and Annabeth, but the entire camp. It became a fun therapeutic way for the campers to remember their friends by singing songs that made them think of them and just a nice way for them to all relax.

Months passed and Percy was ready to propose. He had asked Athena for permission to marry Annabeth and she reluctantly agreed grumbling about "even though he was sea scum he proved his worth by falling into Tartarus for her daughter." Leo had built him the ring he had drawn up and hand delivered it to his cabin just the night before. He had even offered food to Apollo, Aphrodite, and (of course) Athena at lunch praying to him to allow nothing to go wrong as he sings to Annabeth.

As Percy walked down to the beach to meet his wise girl, he saw her already waiting for him on the picnic blanket he had set up earlier. He had his guitar with him and had even attempted to make his hair look less messy than usual. He was dressed in black jeans and his favorite sea green button up that Annabeth loved because it matched his eyes. Piper had found out about his plan to propose earlier and tried to force a tie over his head but Jason ran to his rescue as her Aphrodite side continued to drive her crazy.

As Annabeth turned to smile at him he whispered breathlessly "You look beautiful" "Not looking too bad yourself seaweed brain" Annabeth teased before getting up to kiss him on the cheek. She was dressing in a simple baby blue dress that hugged her waist and then flowed around down to her ankles. After a couple more quick kisses, they both settled back down on the picnic blanket and dug into the small feast Percy had asked his mom to help him cook. They talked and laughed together for the next hour before the last blue cookie was eaten and Percy pulled his guitar out.

(Begin to play song now)

As Percy began to strum to beginning cords of the song, Annabeth smiled. He had played it many times before to her with his mischievous smirk and a wink at the end telling her he was still waiting on an answer. However this time Percy had the ring in his pocket and had been planning up to this exact moment for months.

It's a beautiful night,
we're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby,
I think I wanna marry you

Annabeth's eyes sparkled as she continued to smile at her lovable seaweed brain. They had been through everything together including feuding gods and literal hell but his loyalty to her never faltered. There were many nights she had feared he would leave or get tired of her but he never did. He fought every obstacle that tried to get between them and he was still standing. She gentle swung along to the tune and Percy continued to sing to her.

Is it the look in your eyes
or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby,
I think I wanna marry you

She watched as he sang his heart out to her and smiled lovingly at her. He had sung this to her many times but she never grew tired of hearing it as long as it was sung by him. If any other boy sang this song to her, she would send Percy on them. This was their song and she loved how special and loved it made her feel.

Well, I know this little chapel
on the boulevard we can go
No one will know,
oh, come on girl
Who cares if we're trashed,
got a pocket full of cash we can blow
Shots of patron and it's on, girl

They continued to sway to the music together as their smiles continued to grow. Percy winked at her before beginning to chorus.

Don't say no, no, no, no, no
Just say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And we'll go, go, go, go, go
If you're ready, like I'm ready
'Cause it's a beautiful night,
we're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby,
I think I wanna marry you

Percy quickly pulled an apple from the picnic  basket he had hidden in one of the side pockets and tossed it to Annabeth and watched her eyes widen at what he was hinting. After all, it was Greek tradition to ask a woman to marry you by tossing them a red apple.

Is it the look in your eyes
or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby,
I think I wanna marry you, oh
I'll go get a ring, let the choir bells sing like, ooh

Percy stood up as he sang about getting a ring and a small trail of water swirled around him and reached into his front pocket. Out of it came a ring and it was gently placed into her shaky, open palm.

So what ya wanna do?
Let's just run, girl
If we wake up and you wanna break up, that's cool
No, I won't blame you, it was fun, girl

Percy's voice trembled a bit at this verse and smiled at her reassuringly. Annabeth looked him in the eyes with a dead pan look and rolled her eyes before smiling at him again. Of course her boyfriend would be more worried about her happiness over his own.

Don't say no, no, no, no, no
Just say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And we'll go, go, go, go, go

Percy tilted his head in question as he sang to her the next line.

If you're ready, like I'm ready

Annabeth happily nodded her head yes.

'Cause it's a beautiful night,
we're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby,
I think I wanna marry you

Percy spun around with the biggest smile on his face and ran down to the beach as Annabeth quickly followed. She laughed as Percy quickly spun to her and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead.

Is it the look in your eyes
or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby,
I think I wanna marry you
Just say I do

Percy dropped down to one knee and continued to sing. His eyes never left hers and hers never left his. Happy tears begin to fall down her face and Percy was quick to whisk them away and form them into a beautiful mist as the falling sun seemed to hit them just right. It was probably Apollo or Iris's doing.

Tell me right now, baby
Tell me right now, baby, baby
Just say I do

"I do" Ammabeth mouthed as she sat down in the sand waiting for Percy to finish off the last few lines she knew by heart.

Tell me right now, baby
Tell me right now, baby, baby, oh
It's a beautiful night, we're looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby,
I think I wanna marry you
Is it the look in your eyes
or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby,
I think I wanna marry yo-

Annabeth cut Percy off with a sweet but strong kiss. She laughed as her elbow hit Percy's guitar and he shoved it behind his back. The newly engaged couple just sat there and hugged each other, simply enjoying each other's company. But before they could spend too much time together, the rest of the seven began to loudly cheer, having watched the entire proposal through an Iris message. Nico, Reyna, and Will were there as well. Apparently either a Piper or Apollo wanted everyone to know Percy was going to propose. Percy and Annabeth both blushed as Leo could be heard loudly laughing in the background before yelping. Either Calypso or Piper had slapped him to shut him up.
