Summary: George concludes that you've gone missing, and goes on an investigation to find out what has happened to you.

____________________________________

It takes a moment before everything gets through to him. (Y/n) has gone missing and he's already fearing the worst.
He let himself into her house. She did give him the key to her place for emergencies, which this is.
George is walking around the living room, chewing on the fabric of his gloves while trying to calm down and think rationally, in the midst of his panic, tears begin to gloss over his vision.
He shakes his head rapidly, "Stop crying, you're a man for god's sake!" He scolds himself out loud. This is on time to cry, he needs to find her.
He already knows what happened, (Y/n) has been chased away out of the Hamlyn Village. His best guess is that she's in the Garden District. As much as he would love to go there and find her, there are still some answers he needs; What exactly happened, why it happened, and how it happened. George already got a few theories on his own, but theories don't bring up a good case, he needs actually evidence in order to investigate this disappearance.

George knocks in his own temple as he tries to remember what he learned about investigations during his six-year police training so many years ago...
What he comes up with is to look around for clues and evidence of what has happened.
"Might as well sniff around while I'm here..." George mumbles to himself while looking around the room.
In the living room there are a few things he notices are out of place, over the course of his regular visits, he has been able to hold a photographic memory of the place.
First; something white caught his eye on the coffee table.
It's (Y/n)'s handkerchief, the very same handkerchief that saved his life that faithful day. That handkerchief never lost the colour of his own blood completely, still lightly pink even after all those washes.
George picks up the handkerchief and pockets it, it holds sentimental value to him. A link to the memory of the day they met, the day his life changed forever.

The next thing out of place was at the bookshelf, that very same bookshelf he likes to stare at whenever he comes by for tea. There is a book slightly pulled out of the row of other books. It's that book he has been reading when he was injured, he has simply forgotten about it after his recovery. Which is too bad, he really did want to read that book.
George walks over to the bookshelf and pulls the book out of the row completely. As he holds it the book falls open on a random page automatically, the page has been folded too many times. There is a piece of folded-up paper stuck in between the pages. What's this?

Geoge peels over the folded paper and discovers that it's a letter.
The letter goes as follows:

"Dear Constable George Whistler,

If you read this, then I may have been found out and chased out of the village. I was fearing this would have happened and needed a way to contact you somehow!

I have been wary of my neighbour being onto me, O'Brien has been harassing me about the vegetables and I think he is gonna accuse me of being a Downer if I don't share my rations with him. He did threaten me with that saying.
Future me has probably taken new residence in the Garden District and knowing you, you'll probably come looking for me right?

Please do come to find me, George, I think future me misses you a lot.

Hugs and kisses, XOXO
Yours truly, (Y/n) (L/n)"

George can't help but smirk at the way the letter has been written, it's so her.
"You're so clever (Y/n). Don't worry, I'm coming for you." He motivates himself to go and look for (Y/n). He also keeps the letter as a clue to her whereabouts.
