Cindy had this look in her eyes that was kind of starting to freak Alice and Evie out. It was this far-away look, straight over Alice's shoulder.

Alice raised her eyebrows. "What? What is it?"

Cindy reached over behind Alice's head and clamped down on part of the wall. Evie anticipated the scraping sound of fingernails against the rock, cringing in advance.

Instead, Cindy pulled her hand back and had a tuft of deep red moss clenched in her fist. "This," she said breathlessly. "This moss, it stained my shirt." She grasped for the bottom of her polo, pointing to the stain on her shirt. "The outhouse!"

She stood, hauling Evie to her feet with their intertwined hands. The moss was all over the wall, weaving in cracks and lines. "This stuff is all over the outhouse."

She held up the moss to Evie's face. "Camp. It means we're close."

They managed to get Alice to her feet. "Are you sure you're okay?" Evie muttered to her.

Alice tested her leg, putting as much pressure on it as she could stand. She needed to hold onto the wall, but she was able to limp her way around. With Cindy on one side and Evie right behind her, they were able to box her in to make sure somebody would be able to catch her if she stumbled.

As they went further down the tunnel, the moss got thicker, and so did the smell. They were getting closer to the outhouse. Once they got there, Evie wasn't quite sure how they were going to get out once they got there - but she assumed they'd find a way. She just hoped it didn't involve climbing through a toilet.

The tunnel thinned, moving so it only fit the three of them walking side by side, then two, then single file, before it got so tight Evie worried hey weren't going to be able to fit. Then, at the last moment, it widened ito a circular chasm.

"Is that toilet paper?" Alice wrinkled her nose.

Evie hadn't liked how gross the plan sounded from the get-go, but actually being confronted with the idea in person was a whole lot worse. It was clear that this was wherever the bathroom waste went from the smell alone. It was littered with toilet paper and, well... whatever else people flushed down the camp toilets.

"It's the outhouse," Cindy nodded concretely. "It's gotta be."

Evie cringed. Not just at the smell and sight of the chasm underneath the outhouse, but at the realisation that they were leaving the cave for real. Danny was up there, and she knew that he had probably done a lot since he'd left the girls down there.

She wasn't a huge fan of being trapped underground, but it was almost sort of nice knowing that she had a huge barrier of rock between her and the serial axe murderer.

Evie wasn't ever super close to Danny, really, but she was still struggling to connect the Danny she knew with the Danny that killed Arnie.

She always thought that it would be super easy. She literally saw him kill someone, and yet for some reason she couldn't reconcile them.

But who knows, maybe by the time they got back up to camp someone important would have died so they called the cops, and then she wouldn't have to think about Danny ever again.

She wasn't sure if she liked that idea as much as she should in that scenario.

Cindy held her flashlight up to the wall and was met with the symbol from Nurse Lane's book carved into the side of the wall. "There it is, look."

"Holy shit."

Even with the map being accurate, even with the secret room, it hadn't really hit Evie that this meant the curse was real. Sarah Fier was obviously a real person, they'd learned about her in history class, they had records and stuff like that. She was hanged for witchcraft in 1666, they had a lot of evidence of that.

But Cindy kept lifting her flashlight all the way up until she found what she was looking for; a hole leading straight up to the outhouse.

"That's disgusting," Evie shuddered. She already didn't like using the camp bathrooms, and she'd never really thought about how they worked, but she did know she didn't want to be trapped in the cavern underneath them.

Her first initial thought was wondering how the fuck they were going to climb up there, but that was interrupted by a scream coming through the hole.

It sounded like two girls struggling against something. Evie didn't realise she was biting her lip until it quite literally split open and started bleeding. She could picture Danny in the doorway, covered in blood and hefting his axe.

But then came voices, talking loud and panicked. A girl and...

"Gary!" Evie rushed to the bottom of the hole. "Gary, oh my god!"

Cindy was at her side in an instant. "Help! Help!"

"We're down here!" Alice yelled.

"Please help us!"

The lid opened and Evie let herself breathe for the first time all night. "Hey! Hello!"

There was a flash of red in the opening. "Cindy?"

Cindy gasped, tears in her eyes. Shocked and relieved, she choked a sob out. "Ziggy! Oh my god!"

Ziggy, head fully sticking down the toilet, yelled back. "What are you doing down there?"

Cindy struggled. "It's... It's kind of a long story. Are you okay?"

Ziggy looked down at them. "Just hold on a second."

"Ziggy, are you okay?" Cindy shouted up urgently. The opening closed. "Are you okay?" She let her arms fall to her sides, defeated.

Evie reached beside her and grabbed one of Cindy's hands, the redhead taking it and sighing deeply. They could hear clattering and voices from above and after a minute or two, the lid opened up again. Instead of Ziggy's head again, this time they were met with a bucket tumbling gown, with a rope tied to the handle. "Get on!" Ziggy called down. "We're pulling you up!"

They helped Alice on first since her leg was all fucked up, and once she securely on the bucket, they started pulling her up. It wasn't easy and it didn't look it, Alice was basically getting dragged up the side of the rock, trying her best to keep her leg in the right position.

It wasn't super fast, and Alice was clearly in a lot of pain as Gary and Ziggy hauled her to the opening. Alice was almost at the top when Ziggy turned around. "Danny?"

The rope dropped, Alice fell and Ziggy screamed.

Before Evie could move towards Alice to help her up, something else fell from the opening and landed right at her feet.

Gary's hands were outstretched as if he was reaching for her,and one of them almost seemed to curl around her leg as he landed. But they couldn't of course, he couldn't have been reaching for her, not when his torso was missing it's head.
