Ziggy was the first one to speak up, staring down at the decaying hand in front of the hand. "What is it?"

Alice stared down at it, unblinking. "It's Sarah Fier's lost hand."

Cindy drew in a shuddering breath. "Nurse Lane... she spent her entire life looking for this. A way to stop the curse that took her daughter."

""Without her hand, her grip on the land holds firm."" Alice noted, referring to the poem that they all learned as kids. Shirley used to tell Evie that Sarah Fier would curse her when she wouldn't go to bed on time. ""The curse will last until body and hand unite." This led us to the hand bone. If the legend is true, that means her body's still buried-"

Ziggy perked up. "By the Hanging Tree."

Cindy sighed with a steely resolve. "We can end this. No more murders, no more curse. No more..." she looked first at Evie, then at Ziggy, before setting her sights on Danny's corpse "No more pain. We can save Shadyside."

Ziggy reached for the hand gently, bringing it closer to her face. She looked at it curiously, not noticing the blood trickling from her nose, directly landing on one of Sarah Fier's fingers.

She dropped the hand, bringing her hand up to her nose to wipe the blood off her face. "I-"

"Please no," Evie sighed, putting her head in her hands. "Please, can the breaking of the inter-generational curse not involve a lot of convoluted bullshit? I don't know if I can handle any more of this."

Ziggy ignored her. "My nose... I bled on the hand and... I think I saw her."

Cindy frowned. "Who?"

Ziggy huffed as if it was obvious. "Sarah Fier."

Evie let her head fall straight down on the table. "For fuck's sake." Cindy rubbed her back softly.

"She was... she was angry," Ziggy continued.

"We have to bury this thing... right fucking now." Alice said.

Evie felt uneasy, moreso than she had felt for the rest of the night. There was a noise coming from outside that was making her heart race. Danny was dead - his corpse was right there. There was no one to fear anymore. He was dead.

The room was stifling her. She scrambled to get up from the table, needing air.

She stepped outside, clenching her fists, still with an uneasy feeling. The feeling of not being in danger after being in constant danger for hours hadn't quite set in yet, and she took a shaky breath. It was a warm night, her hair was sticking to her face. Cindy, Ziggy and Alice grabbed stuff to dig, Cindy had a rusty shovel, Ziggy had a smaller trowel.

Alice looked at Cindy. "What, I have to use my hands?"

Cindy gave her a bewildered look. "No, you're staying here."
