"That would be nine hundred and fifty eight," the cashier smiled politely after ripping the bill.

Tejasswi fumbled with her purse as her phone rang. She excused herself as she pulled it out attending it. The caller Id displayed Kayal's name.

She kept the amount on the table as she gathered the plastic bags in her arms as the cashier helped her adjunct the red bull cans over the top.

"Kayal," she answered the call as she walked out. Her phone was balanced between her shoulder and jaw.

"Did you see the news?" Kayal's voice sent a shiver down her face. Something was terribly wrong. Tejasswi dumped the polythene bags in her car. She turned over, backing herself against the car door.

"What's wrong?" Tejasswi placed a hand on her thumping heart.

"Karan Kundrra just got his bail," Tejasswi's eyes grew saucer-wide as she bowled over the news. She was very sure there was no possibility for him to get a bail for the next two weeks.

His defense was very weak given that Gajendra decided to play a heart-attack drama with them. Tejasswi shut her eyes as she grumbled about how agonizing her fate was. She rubbed her forehead with the foot of her palm. She looked up at the sky, opening her eyes.

"Teju, are you there?" Kayal asked and Tejasswi nodded. She realized Kayal wouldn't be able to see and hummed in a reply immediately.

"Teju wherever you just leave the place and go back home," Kayal ordered. Tejasswi frowned.

"It has been one hour since he has gotten out and dude, the car he took is now missing out of the lane. I have sent our department people to his home and they claim they didn't see the Tesla car he took," Kayal said. Tejasswi could hear her fumbling with something on the other side.

"Tesla?" Tejasswi flicked her tongue and ran it across her lips. She looked around, suspiciously. The air grew in animosity. The cold breeze hit the metal bearing hanging from her earrings, making them clatter in a sonorous melody.

"People can't really recognise him then," Kayal breathed in panic. Tejasswi began walking towards the driver seat as she saw the lights of the street flicker. She shut the door and locked it.

She looked onto both sides before turning the speaker on and hitting the road.

"Where is his lawyer?" Tejasswi asked.

"In his office," Kayal said. Tejasswi heard the juggling of keys. She huffed.

"Kayal, you don't have to come over," Tejasswi said. She gulped thinking what the Karan Kundrra can do when all hell breaks loose. Not the kind of perfectionist in him that cloaks his pretentious ass character, he would do anything to seek his revenge.

"No. Babe, he's coming at you. I can smell his obnoxity miles away. I'm not letting you deal with him alone," Kayal said, zipping her bags, Tejasswi guessed.

"Kayal, I don't think he'll come after me," Tejasswi voiced out. She could practically hear Kayal fuming on the other side.

"I don't care if he does or not, I am worried about you staying up alone in that huge apartment ," Kayal said, resuming her walk. Tejasswi sauntered her car around the edge, increasing the speed of it.
