This is a one-chapter book. Enjoy! - Glass

Hephaestus was tired. Tired of making weapons and jewelry. He wanted to make something elegant, but fragile. Beautiful, but dangerous. Something out of his comfort zone. 'Glass,' He decided. 'Lots of glass.' "HEPHAESTUS!" Hera called. 'Great. Just what I need. A distraction.' Hephaestus thought, walking to his mother with a sour face. "Well?" he asked. Hera glared at him before answering, "Well, I want a new design-" she started, before being interrupted by Hephaestus. "No. My hands are full. Sorry, Mother." He said, glaring at Hera. "Besides, this is the 10th time you've wanted me to redesign something of yours." he continued, still glaring at his mother. "Well, son, I'll have you know that it's my throne I want you to redesign. And no concealed traps this time." Hera said, matching Hephaestus' glare. "I stand by what I said earlier. I am busy right now." Hephaestus said, walking off before Hera could retaliate.

Hephaestus sat in his workshop. He wanted something made of glass, but what? Unable to figure out what he wanted to build, he went to visit his wife, Aphrodite. Upon finding her, he decided to ask her what animal she liked. "Unicorns! They may not be real, but unicorns are lovely! It's funny that mortals could make up such lovely creatures in their mind, yet fail to make us gods correctly." Aphrodite exclaimed. Hephaestus merely nodded, deep in thought, making his way back to the workshop. 'A unicorn... made of glass... why not?' Hephaestus thought, assembling the pieces of colourful glass together.

Days had passed, and Hephaestus was still working on the unicorn. Hera was on edge because of him. She had come to the conclusion that Hephaestus was hiding traps in her throne and refused to sit on it, instead choosing to sit on the stool Hades normally sat on when he visited Olympus. Hephaestus thought nothing of it. He was too busy making the unicorn. A few days later, the unicorn was done. It was beautiful, made of colourful pieces of glass all assembled together in the perfect shape of a unicorn. "Oh! That's beautiful, Hephaestus!" Athena said, startling Hephaestus. "Athena? What are you doing here?" Hephaestus questioned her. "Hera is looking for you. She said something about her throne and traps."

Hephaestus thought nothing could surprise him anymore, but once he entered the Throne Room, to say he was shocked was an understatement. There was absolute chaos in the Throne Room. Gods were screaming at each other, Hera's hair and clothes were a mess, all while Aphrodite sat on her throne fixing her makeup. "Uh... hello?" Hephaestus said, trying to make his presence known. Zeus turned his attention to the voice. "Ah, Hephaestus, you're here, see-" He was cut short by a scream. "HIM! HE'S PLANNING TO TRAP ME!" It was Hera. "Yes, that. See, we want to know what you've been working on these past few days." Zeus continued, agitated. "CAN YOU PLEASE QUIET DOWN?!" Zeus yelled, startling the Olympians into silence.

"Woah, that's cool." Poseidon commented on the glass unicorn. "I love it! Oh, Hephaestus, that's beautiful!" Aphrodite said. Hephaestus was showered in praise. "How does it work?" Hera asked, calmer now that she knew she wasn't in danger. "I need Hecate for it to work." Hephaestus replied. "Hecate? What would Hecate do?"
"Hecate's the goddess of magic. If I want to make this work, I need her." "Oh, alright."

Hephaestus left to find Hecate, and found her in her cave, shrouded in Mist. "Hecate, I have a favour to ask of you."
"Yes, Hephaestus?"
"I need you to bring my glass unicorn to life."
"That is an odd request, to say the least. I'll see what I can do."

"That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." Poseidon said, startled. He was right. The unicorn was a sight to behold. The pieces of colourful glass shimmered in the sun as the unicorn walked. Its mane itself was made of hundreds of pieces of glass. "I would love to have this in my garden." Hera said. Hephaestus just nodded. A few adjustments later, the unicorn ran wild and free in Hera's garden, glinting in the sun like a precious jewel.
