Ira kept playing Veer's words in her mind over and over again. What did he plan on doing next? How was he going to ruin her life yet again? Was she always this blind to have not seen how unfeeling of a jerk Veer could be at times? Maybe her youth and his good looks had blinded her to all his follies before. She was waiting for Vishal to pick her up from work. A car swerved in beside her and the window rolled down.
" Terribly sorry to keep a lady waiting .", Vishal smiled.
"Its alright I wasn't waiting for long."
"Hop in."
Ira and Vishal chatted along the way about her work, her life, his life and everything else in between. After about a quarter of an hour Ira reached home, she got out and was about to bid him goodbye when Vishal got out as well. He pecked her lips out of the blue and just hung his head down shyly, Ira's cheeks flushed with a distinct shade of red as she meekly said goodbye and scurried away.
Ira was humming a love song to herself when she opened the door to her apartment, the first sight of which scared her so much so that she stumbled and fell straight back on her buttock. Veer let out a cheeky laugh," Someone's clumsy."
"I'm not.", she was about to get up when Veer kneeled down and offered her a helping hand, which she ignored.
"What are you doing here? And how did you get in? What are you a stalker now?"
"I am everything you wish me to be."
"I wish for you to leave me alone."
"That I can't do. So-"
"So what?"
" So you kiss each other on the street? You probably-", Veer started stepping towards her with an intimidating air following his silhouette. He was not an abusive man neither had he ever invaded her privacy but this time he was so close to Ira. Her sweet minty breathe was fanning his lips.
" Oh yes, we've even slept together if that's what you are asking. ", Ira answered boldly. She couldn't bear the closeness with him. The last time they had come this close they had almost done it.
He leaned in closer and whispered in her ears, " Wrong move bubs, you know how mad I get when others touch my things. If you continue to be like this the ending wouldn't be good for-"
" Me? Are you threatening me? "
" Heavens, no. I wouldnt think of harming you. But people around you I can't gurantee. "
" Is it because I hadn't done slept with you? Is your manly pride that fragile? ", Ira wanted to hurt him, as much as she could.
" You are crossing the line bubs. ",he slowly moved the strands of her dangling over her face agitated sweat laden face. He took her right hand and placed it onto his chest.
"Do you feel how it beats? It's not because you hurt my ego, its because I love you and having you so close is making me feel elated. I'm happy, I'm over the moon to have you close. My heartbeats are the sign of it."
Veer looked intently at her, but Ira couldn't bear another second of the close heated encounter. She jerked his hand away and backed off.
Veer laughed at her antics, stepped closer and rubbed her nose, "Bubs is afraid she wouldn't be able to resist the charms of her handsome husband."
"Ex- husband and me stepping back has nothing to do with me still having feelings for you but everything to do with me hating people invading my personal space."
"You can lie to me but cant lie to yourself."
"You-", Veer backed her off against the wall and leaned in close to her face. Ira instantly turned her face away.
"Dont worry I wont steal a kiss on the lips like him. I will do that when you want me to. As for now I will leave I have important business to attend to."

"Why didn't you call me? ", Ira worriedly scanned over Vishal's injuries.
"It's just minor cuts and bruises."
"Did they catch the one who slammed into you?"
"No ,fled the scene. It was too dark to properly make out the model or the number."
"Be careful and please call me when things like this happen, I'm-"
"Supposed to know. I know, I know." ,he smiled.
"I'm leaving you now but Ill come to check up on you after my hours are over alright. No buts."

Veer and Ira locked eyes, each determined to reach their goal, by hook or by crook and neither ready to back off. Perilous journey lay ahead.
