the last summer

chapter 1.

callie!! says callie's mother calling from the kitchen. "we have 10 minutes hurry up and pack your things!" okay mom!! she giggles to her best friend macy.

oh right macy, macy is my best friend and she has always been since the first day of kindergarten. every summer she comes up for my birthday, while i stay the whole summer until school starts again.

also im packing for the palm beach, where my closest friends are, almost like brothers. devan and kayden. the reason we know them is because my mom is best friends with their mom, cassandra.

anyways back to the story! "so what are you packing" says macy with a wink. you know just the usual, a few dresses, and maybe two swimsuits! "that is so boring callie!! you've changed since the last summers, you're way more hot now"

i know, but it's not like i can just wear a bikini in front of the brothers!! "girl um yes you can?! here i'll give you one instead!" says macy and then she hands me a bikini with a lace finish and this gorgeous baby blue color. okayy i guess i'll wear this, thank you macy!!

"of course bae!! but to borrow not to keep" says macy with a giggle. "go try it on!!" "callie 5 MINUTES!!" screams my mother. gosh okay okay, i quickly go to the closet, undress and then put on the bikini.

then i take a few steps towards the mirror and look at myself. "wow i actually look pretty in this.. it's strange, but i don't want to seem like i'm asking for attention to the brothers"

i think in my head. then i open the closet door and give a fashion show to macy, while i try not to burst out giggling. "woah!! callie it looks so good on you i love it!" says macy. "thank you macy!! then i quickly put my clothes back on and pack it in my bag"

i give macy on last hug, and quickly run down stairs. "you look gorgeous callie" says my mother. thank you mom, macy lent me a swimsuit too!! "that's nice of her!" says my mom. "hah you think that's pretty?? i think she looks the same as last summer." says my annoying brother joseph.

he is 2 years older than me, 18. he's always been like this ever since the day i was born, annoying. "shut up joseph!" i say. then we all go through the front door and head in the car. we drive to the airport, and then wait 1 hr and 46 minutes. after the long wait, we made it!!

"okay im gonna go get our suitcases, you guys go meet them in section A" says my mother. "really you made my partner callie?" joseph says with a giggle. they then walk towards it and there he was, kayden.

my biggest crush since i was 7. but last summer he had a girlfriend, and it would be weird to tell him. me and joseph walks towards them and give them all big hugs. this was just the beginning. "hey call, you look different.. in a good way though" says kayden. thank you kay, you look good to! i say as i blush. i look at devan and cassandra, she's hugging my mom and they are catching up.

but devan, he is different. something must've happened, he's staring at the windows looking afar. i wonder what happened, he does look a lot different though.

we all do, but ive always had a love triangle with devan and kayden. they are both so sweet but i always thought deep down kayden was my soulmate. anyways i should stop thinking about this, it's the first day of summer fun! after a lot of talking to eachother and traffic trying to come to the beach house from the airport, we made it finally!!

because we come here every summer, we all have our own rooms. oh and the dads come up for my birthday, and cassandra's birthday fourth of july.

mine's is june 22, and today was only the first day of june. i walk upstairs and head to my room to unpack, kaydens room is directly across from mine. i unpack all my stuff, and then put on my swimsuit that macy got me. i love to swim here, the weather is so nice always. and the cold breeze on my warm skin is just perfect.

i rush down stairs and hear my mom and cassandra talking and cooking dinner. i get my goggles and some sun screen, then i look outside and see my brother, kayden, and devan all smiling and swimming. i put on some sun screen quickly, skipping my back.

and then i walk outside. i see kaydens attention turn to me, he's still smiling though. never knew i had this effect on him. i grab my goggles and put them on me, letting my hair out of the back of them. perfect now i'm ready to swim. i get in, all eyes on me. it's awkward a weird feeling, it used to be different.

the only one who isn't awkwardly staring at me is joseph, which is normal knowing he see's me every single day. i speak, "should we play chicken?" i ask them all. "yes but be prepared to lose." says joseph with a laugh. kayden and devan also agree. we split into teams of two. me and kayden, and devan and joseph. i tell kayden to go under, so he does.

i get on his shoulders, finally something that feels normal. just us playing a fun game. then devan gets on joseph, i can tell it's hard for them though. i try not to laugh at it. "okay let's go!!" i say.

i get close to devan and push him, but i know he's stronger than me clearly so i have to think this through. devan is laughing at me, while i'm about to outsmart him. 5 4 3 2 ... 1 perfect he tries to come at me with his hands.

i tap kaydens shoulder and tell him to back away, devan gets flipped off of joseph's shoulders. "yes!" me and kayden laugh and show off. "whatever." says devan and they both scoff. we play many more pool games, and have lots of fun until dinner time.
