~ Five ~
The days passed quickly. Never was there a dull moment. Since Jordan and I had become good friends over the years of Saving Summer, she came along with me for bits and pieces of my book promotion. Which included book signings, small tv interviews, and the occasional preview reading. Which basically meant I read a paragraph or two. Since I had one of those every single day except for Saturdays, I slowly got worn out. The book had rocketed larger than anyone could have expected. So Jordan came with me, as well as Mariah. It was nice to have support.
"It's early. Why am I here?" Jordan whined as we crawled into the van at six am. Mariah had university classes that day, so it was only Jordan, one of my publishers and my agent. My publisher and agent were a bit older than Jordan and I, so they were involved in their own conversation.
"Because you chose to be? Plus it's Radio 1. You haven't shut up about the fact that you get to meet Grimmy," I joked before bringing the steaming coffee in my hands to my lips. Coffee was literally the only way I could be halfway awake at this time of the morning.
"That's right. Grimmy. I'm doing it for Grimmy." Jordan repeated over and over again sluggishly, her head going to rest against the window.
"Hey, Anna, how exactly does a radio interview work?" I leaned forward to ask my agent.
The thirty year old paused her conversation, turning so her black curly hair flipped to the side. "Same as a normal interview. You just don't show the book off. Nick Grimshaw will ask you a few questions, such as 'where did you get your inspiration' or 'what made you write this book?' and then you'll read a little excerpt. Same as your normal. Then you chat like good friends. The end! They start playing Saving Summer's latest single."
"Ha, ha." I rolled my eyes at her last sentence. But then I paused and looked at her with wide eyes. "Wait, you're kidding, right?"
"Maybe. I don't know. From what I've heard, they're beyond massive right now." Anna shrugged, a small glint of amusement in her eyes at my deer in the headlights expression.
"But what if people think I'm using my friendship with him to get my book big?" I asked in pure worry.
"Don't worry, love. I highly doubt anyone will think that."
"Speaking of Saving Summer, James just texted me to tell you that they're all going to be listening. Wow, they haven't even gone to bed yet. How weird is that?" Jordan stared at her phone, exhaustion evident in her wonder-filled voice and expression.
I immediately reached into my messenger bag, since usually when Jordan got a text from James, I'd get one from Tristan. Sure enough, a little red dot blinked at the corner.
