Ta'Nia Ali
I've been going through files upon files since 8am. There's nothing more I wanna do other than to kick my feet up and relax. I'm actually fighting temptation right now because I refuse to be the boss that gives orders while he or she lazily lay back in their office not doing a thing. I believe in setting examples about how I want my corporation to operate. And if you can't follow my simple rules, then your presence is no longer needed here at Ali Advising Management, AAM for short.
A lot of my employees think I'm mean...maybe even cruel, but I beg to differ. I'm just an educated black woman that have certain values and expectations for her business. I've learned that when you're not going with the flow of things and know exactly what you want, you become difficult to them. Everyone who is my skin complexion knows exactly who they are.
Little do they know, I'm fine with that. It was taught to me at a young age to always be sure of who I am, where I come from, and where I wanna go. That's one of the many things I applaud my parents for. My daddy instilled the saying "those who don't know who they are become someone they don't wanna be" in my head and I live by that. I typically stay away from people who don't have an identity.
"Good morning! Ms.Ali...are you busy?" One of my advisers spoke from the crystal cut glass doors. She held a cup of coffee in her hand along with a clipboard underneath her chin.
"No. Well, just finishing up some files. What's going on?" I placed the confidential papers into the manila folder. It's a must that my client's financial information stays private.
She sat the cup of coffee onto my desk causing me to quickly place a coaster underneath it. Her face immediately turned red. "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to—"
I laughed it off. It's not that big of a deal. My OCD couldn't handle the thought of a stubborn water stain. "It's okay, Jamie. Thank you, you know a woman gotta have her caffeine to start the day off right."
Jamie agreed with a giggle. She then left just as fast as she came. Jamie is one of my best advisers here at the firm. She's kinda off when it comes to common sense, but she has the credentials. I let her know she is appreciated from time to time by doing small gestures. All of my employees are greatly appreciated as a matter of fact and their hard work never goes unnoticed.
I ran my fingers through my long, thick hair that falls just below the center of my back. Right now I'm sporting a deep side part, but soon it'll be braided up since I'm going to Jamaica.
My ringing phone caused me to stop in my tracks. Silas's contact name read across the screen which is very surprising. Just last week he wanted space...I wonder what changed.
