My cousins and I have been planning a girls trip to Jamaica since December. We're always sure to plan at least three months ahead of time because we like to be organized and prepared. Nothing is worst than going out of town, let along the country, unprepared. That's a recipe for a disaster. Especially when passports are involved. That can create a headache on its own.

My cousins also have children and companions. They can't just up and leave. I'm not tied down to anything, so I can go pretty much go wherever the wind blows me. There's been countless times where I've drove to Chicago just for shopping sprees.

"Ou! Now who put Casamigos in this mimosa?" I coughed. We're at a brunch place that was recommended to us by other tourists.

Mella sipped the mimosa. "Not you coughing it up! Bitch, I'm crying."

"She need to swallow it." Chanel said. "Here we are, on vacation and this hoe refusing drinks."

I'm not an alcoholic or anything, but when it comes to a drink ima' have it. When I was younger, me and my cousins use to go shot for shot. As I've gotten a little older, my tolerance has changed tremendously. I be drunk off dumb shit like wine coolers.

"Not too much." I said in a funk. "Y'all got me fucked up. Don't act like ian down with the bullshit now...I been put up for too long."

Amelia danced along to the Jamaican music playing through out the outdoor restaurant. "So drink up! It's time to celebrate mamas."

I'm Still In Love With You by Sasha and Sean Paul graced the speakers. This song takes me back to being a kid and watching my aunties wind their waist to the beat in Grandma's backyard. Family gatherings were always there. I remember thinking "I can't wait to be a grown up. I'm gonna be dancing just like them."

If only I knew adulting would be so...different.

My smile faded at thought of our late Grandma Bee. Her soul was beautiful. One of the most dearest people to roam this Earth. My family took her death hard. She was the glue that held everyone together and it seems as if her passing drove everyone apart. My mom pretends it doesn't bother her, but it does.
