Just before he walks out of the shop, she grabs his hand.
"Hey", she says in that carefree way, with that same glint in her eyes, as if she's asking about the weather or whether he believes in God, "you're happy then?"
"I am", he says, and he does his best to not let any doubt show. She has the sharpest of eyes.
"Good", she says. And the man knows she means it.

Humans keep chasing and pursuing that forever elusive word. That euphoric feeling. But in the end, it's really quite a simple thing.
The woman knew this feeling – this bittersweet feeling.
She was happy knowing life had turned out well for the man, and yet there was this achingly hollow feeling, because she knew she would never be part of it – and this, the woman supposed – this must be love.
