The Average Child

"Doctor Adams... Are you there? Speak to me!"

-"Who is doctor Adams?" Ellina asked after getting called a name she does not possess.

-"What? Are you testing sleep medicines again? Honestly, Doctor, you need to take your life more seriously than your job!"

-"Oh, my apologies, although I do not recall taking anything and there is no drug effect on my experiment notes for today" Ellina was forced to speak before she realized it.

-"Anyway, Doctor Heinrich is waiting for you, he is in the third room on your right on the fourth floor... His meeting is what you came here for right?"

-"Yes! yes of course... " Ellina was forced to speak unconsciously  before she knew again, then she paused for seconds "where again?" Ellina felt a sense of responsibility so she asked knowing that she was not paying attention when the receptionist was speaking. "Ohh my bad, was it the fourth room third floor on the right?" Ellina spoke unconsciously and put her hand on her head

The receptionist nodded "thank you" Ellina said thoughtlessly again.

[The person speaking in Ellina's subconsciousness is Gabriel Adams and Ellina is witnessing from his point of view]

Gabriel walks to the stairs and toward the fourth floor while pulling out a pair of scissors from his lab coat and playing tricks with them at a high speed, making the situation more intense for Ellina.

Ellina notices that she appears to be taller and more robust than before and she has a deeper voice as well. Ellina questions if it is a dream or if her soul is traveling through bodies. She feels alone and wants someone familiar with her. She also questions why her name is 'Doctor Adams' she decided not to speak a lot or ask any of the questions out loud out of fear of ruining something she is not aware of.

Gabriel opens a door while Ellina was thinking and her curiosity and excitement increase until after the door was open and she sees an office, which confuses her and lets her hopes down of viewing anything fun or interesting to her. In that office, a man in his late thirties, Doctor Heinrich, was waiting for Gabriel. Ellina has taken a liking to him for his apparent Enthusiasm.

"Gabe! how have you been!"

-"Do not call me by my first name, I don't like it, also keep it professional" Gabriel replied with a dreadful expression.

-"How cold! And at a young age? You've broken my heart! I've been researching what you have been working on and I'd say I'm a huge fan! other sleep technologists don't really appeal to me, to be frank with you. It seems that polysomnography is too boring to keep me awake! Aaahahahahahaa"

-"Cut it. I couldn't have given any less of flying, walking, driving, whatever typ'a fuck about all margins of science than I do about children's psychology. I just came here because, for some ungodly reason, the college wants me to check it out."

-"Oh, what a shame... I thought we could partner up or something... to get this research started I will show you our latest and most exciting investigations." Doctor Heinrich got up from his chair and went up to his mini-fridge to take out files while playing with a key chain and putting it in his pocket.

'Other than the fact that he stores printed data in a mini-fridge, something doesn't feel right... who researches children's mentality in such a plain office? doesn't he have to bring children to a more vibrant place? Also, there's dust in oddly highlighted places all across the room... Has he moved furniture? And why is he pulling out the keychain at such a random time, it looked like he was gonna use it and he just put it in his pocket... Better record a tape of this for evidence in case things get bad. I also have a weird feeling that someone is watching me right now' Ellina heard voices in her head in the same voice she talks with. And she is impressed with the part of its analysis that she understands.
