Chapter 44

Sesshomaru's POV

Rin had been feeling ill for the past week, and I was beginning to get worried about her.  Including the fact that her scent has changed slightly, I don't know why, but I have my suspicions, and I just want to be correct, although if I am, I am not sure how she will take the news. I'm not sure of myself at this point.

Today she is supposed to go see the medics, although to do that she would have to wake up first.  That woman can sleep like the dead, although that is not at all funny to me in anyway, but to her it is hilarious.  She could sleep through almost anything, which I think is a bit dangerous, although if she is danger she seems to sense it, I am guessing her powers alert her.  She has many tricks up her sleeves that I am still learning.  Women are confusing, I now understand what Inuyasha meant when he would tell that to me once he married Kagome so many years ago.  I sighed as I continued to do paper work.  After a while I decided to go check in on how my soldiers were doing in their raining.  I walked to the training hall, maids and other servants bowing in respect and some trembling in fear as they did so.  I made my way to the training hall, I looked out at all of the men fighting with another, some two against one, to test their abilities more.  Then I sensed it, something wasn't right.  I sniffed the air, someone is on my land and in my castle.  I focused.  Rin!

I ran to our room only to find her gone.  There was a scent here, one that I did not know.  I could see that there was a slight struggle, and I could smell some sort of chemical, or gas.  I growled out, as I roared orders to guards, the ones that were not passed out or dead.  I raced after the scent of my mate mixed with another being with her, or carrying her.  I will not lose her, not again, not ever.  She is mine!  I growled as I changed into my true form.  I ran faced and hard, willing myself to go faster than I have gone before.  Something didn't feel right in the air as I neared her.  Her scent was getting stronger so I knew that I was closing in on her, and her abductor.  My head felt strange, and my vision was becoming blurry, all fuzzy like.  I growled as I shook my head, trying to keep focused. My mate is in trouble, I must reach her.  Something hit my nose, causing me to stop.  I searched the area around me and saw nothing.  My senses are failing.  I began to see dots in my vision, I heard a chuckle as I fell. 

I awoke to see Rin chained to a stone table.  A man stood over her with a knife in hand.  I began to growl at him as he began to speak.  He will not harm my mate, although everytime I tried to get free I could feel my energy and power being drained.  I made eye contact and I could see fear in her eyes.  I feared for her life more over my own.  Only her life mattered, my life meant nothing, it was nothing without her.  She must live, she must never be harmed. When the stupid human said that she was no longer needed, I knew that he was going to kill her.  I fought against my chains harder, as he neared her with the knife. 

Then she spoke to me.  I froze at her voice, and at her words.  I knew what she was thinking, because I was thinking it as well.  We will both die, here together, like this.  I could not accept this, I knew that there was no way out.  I know now that she will die, I will die, we will both die.  The two of us down in some sort of cellar together.  I love her, oh how I loved her so.  I could see terror in her eyes, so kept eye contact with her, to try and calm her.  To let her know that I loved her, that I wasn't going to leave her, that I would follow her forever.

Rin's POV

   I was chained to something hard and cold, a table, no it doesn't feel like a table exactly.  A stone table maybe.  The air smelled foul, I wanted to throw up.  This smell was horrible. My body hurt, and ached.  My eyes, open, please open.  My head was pounding and I didn't know what to do, finally my eyes fluttered open.  I was right, it is a stone table.  I tried to move, but I couldn't, the chains, right.  I looked around me to see.  It was almost like an underground cave or something.  Lanterns were on the walls, casting some light to see, but not much.  It held a creepy vibe, and something had me worried.  I continued to look around me, and then I saw.  Noooo!  Sesshomaru, he was chained to the wall.  I tried to use a spell that would take off these chains, but it only made my body ache more.
