Josh laid in the bed thinking about what's coming next and how much college is going to be a big change in his life, he would no longer have his parents to help him with everything, yes they could send him some money from time to time but for the most part he was on his own.
"JOSH!", he was interrupted from his deep thought.
"YEA MA" , he yelled back
"Get yo ass up we gotta get on the road, and you laying in the damn bed" she said from downstairs
"IM COMING DAM" he said
"WHAT YOU SAID?!, WATCH YOUR MOUTH!" She yelled
"Yes ma'am" he said
Josh got up went to the bathroom and freshened up, then went in his room to check all his luggage to make sure that he had everything ready.
"So you gone bring your game?" His brother came in the room asking
"Hell yea, I don't trust none of y'all in this house y'all don't know how to leave shit alone" he said
"Mannn I was tryna play it while you was gone"his brother said
"Oh well, now look over there at the door, you see it?" He pointed
"Yea" his brother said
"Walk out of it" josh said
His brother looked back at him and back at the door and walked out just as he had told him too.
Josh bust out laughing
Few hours went by
Josh was in the process of putting all of his luggage in the back of the van
"JOSH!" His mom yelled
"YEA!! " he yelled back
"I packed a bunch of sandwiches for the road and I got you some water for the dorm"she said
"Appreciate it ma" he said
Josh was thankful for his mom because she's been there for him through everything, she was very sad to see him leave the nest but she knew that is was for the best
"Aye son" his dad came out of no where
Josh looked at him with aggravation because he really disliked his father because of the fact that he hasn't really been there for most of his life, except for special occasions like his birthday, graduation, and unfortunately today
"Wassup" josh said tryna focus on what he was doing
"You need some help packing the stuff" his dad asked
"Nah Bruh, how about you go in house, and help my mama out but don't be flirting"he said shacking his head
"BOY, don't talk to me like tha—" he got cut off
"Your what? You gonna punch me? Teach me some respect? Nigga please" he said
His dad just shook his head and walked in the house with his mom
"Why do you keep letting him talk to me like
That, I'm his father he needs to treat me with respect" his dad said
"Ben, you don't understand you haven't been in his life until like 2 years ago because all of a sudden you wanted to show up, you gone have to give him some time to get used to the adjustment" she said
"That's the thing I don't have no time, he's going off to college, he's basically almost an adult" he said
"All I can tell you is do what you can now" she said as she put the rest of the sandwiches in the bag
Few hours later
They had finished packing everything in the car and they were on the road headed to Coast University, all 3 of them drove in a line all the way to the school, josh dad was in his truck, his mom in the van, and josh in his Honda Civic.
"Josh?" His mom said
"Yea" he said taking one of his AirPods out
"I know you said you were ready for college, but I wanted to make sure that you were really ready?" She said looking at him while driving
"Yea ma I am" he said looking out the window
"Ok just making sure because this is a life changing thing for you" she said
"Yea I understand" he said
It had got quiet and his mom wanted to talk to him about his dad and try to get him to make amends, at least before he goes to college
"So about your dad" she said
"I don't care about that bitch ass nigga" he said
His mom slapped the shit outta him
"Watch your damn mouth" she said firmly
"Ma what u got going on" he said
"Sooner or later your going to have to respect your father because he is at least making an effort" she said
"Now he making a effort, what about when I was little and didn't know how to ride my bike, or throw a football, bounce a basketball, that's something that a father should do for his son but I didn't have that" josh said
"Yes baby I understand, but at least now he's here, give him a chance" she said
"I'll try" he said putting his pod back in
Few hours later
They had made it to the school and began to start unpacking everything for the dorm, josh was roomed on the 3rd floor of his dorm building, he went to the front desk to check in and got his key.
He went upstairs to check the room out the room while his mom and dad were still unloading, he walked in and saw a whole bunch of stuff everywhere and looked like his roommate had made it before him
"What the—" he said
