As frightend as mason & taylor are, mason quickly hangs up the phone with caren and races to his car. Mason askes taylor to meet him there. Mason terrified is now driving kinda fast, not doing the speed limit, all he can do is over think. " what if hes hurt?" mason thought, "what if i never see him again?" he thought as the thoughts run through his head.
Mason arrives at his house to see cops and an ambulance sitting in front of it, mason hurries and puts his car in park and runs towards his house only to see his dad layed out on a stretcher getting brought into the ambulance. "dad!" mason yelled trying to get to him but the emt guy not letting him " let us do our job son" the emt says shuting the squad door behind him.
mason: "caren! what happend!?"
caren: "mason.. your father had a seizure and i found him barely responsive, i called 911 right away but he couldnt even move or talk to me" she says as she lets out a loud cry.
mason: "omg this is all my fault, i have to go be there with him".
Taylor pulls up an quickly runs to mason, " mason! what happened is he okay?!" taylor says with a frightend look on her face. " no taylor, he had a seizure and caren found him barely responsive, they just took him to the hospital". mason says crying, trying to hide his face.
" Hes gonna be okay mason, come on ill go to see him with you". taylor says hugging him tightly then going to get in her car to drive mason to the hospital.
On the way to the hospital mason hasn't said a word to taylor. "It's gonna be okay mason i promise" taylor says as she rubs its hand lightly. "i should've got there quicker tay, i could've helped" mason says with tears rolling down his face. "mason look at me, your dads gonna be okay" taylor says to him as they park at the hospital.
After mason an taylor get there, they immediately go up to the front desk to see what room his dad is in. "im very sorry sir, he's not in a room yet, the doctors are doing everything they can. you'll have to take a seat over there" the receptionist says to mason pointing to the seats him an taylor can wait in.
*4 hours later*
It's been 4 hours waiting to see his dad when finally a doctor comes out an calls masons name "keats", Mason an taylor quickly get up an walk towards the doctor "follow me, i'll explain everything on the way". "Mason your father has suffered a severe stroke an that's what caused the seizure, there's also something we'd like to discuss w you that we found in your fathers blood levels, it's quite concerning" the doctor tells mason as they walk to get in the elevator.
Mason: "wym? doc? is he stable?".
doctor: "yes, for now he is" mason? has your father been drinking?".
mason: "wym drinking? my father hasn't drink since i was little.
doctor: "well mason we found some very disturbing high levels of alcohol in his system"
They approach his fathers room. mason is surprised to see his dad the way he is. "dad omg!" mason yelled, slightly rushing over to grab his hand. " he's gonna be okay mason, he's expected to have a full recovery". the doctor says reassuring him.
"When will he wake up?" mason asked the doctor. "As soon as the seditave wears off, ill be back in about an hour to check on him, you and your girlfriend are very welcome to stay" the doctor says only then leaving the room.
*taylors pov*
"im so worried about mason and his father" i thought sitting paitently waiting to hear anything about masons dad. As the doctor came out and called masons name, after 4 hours of waiting, he looked a little concerned. "omg, i cant believe his father has been drinking." i thought as i stared at the squares in the floor while walking. "i cant believe this, why would mr. keats drink after all these years" there has to be something going on". All these thoughts are running through my head, i can't even think straight.
As we walked into masons fathers room, he was laying there so lifeless looking, mason rushed to grab his hand an the doctor explained he'd have a full recovery.
After the doctor said he'd be back in an hour to check on his dad & left the room, i asked mason to sit down so we could talk. "mason look it's not your fault, he's gonna be okay. the doctor even said he's gonna have a full recovery" i said to mason as i wiped his tears away. "how could this happen tay, he was so healthy" mason said back to me letting off a soft cry. I told him i was there for him an hugged him tightly.
An hour goes by an we still haven't seen the doctor back in yet, "i'm gonna go an see what's taking so long an i'll be right back mason" i told him as i got out of the big uncomfortable chair i was sitting in, i walked out to the desk where there was a nurse sitting an asked her when we'd see the doctor again. "idk ma'am " she said, putting her phone back down, "well how long do you think it'll be until he comes back" i asked. "shouldn't be too long, he will be in soon, just sit tight okay?" the nurse said. "okay" i said back walking back towards mr keats room.
*narrators pov*
It's nearly an hour an a half when finally mason an taylor hear a slight night on the door. "i'm sorry i had another patient i had to deal with, we're gonna take the medicine off so he wakes up right quick" the doctor says as he starts to wake masons father up.
His father slowly starts to wake up to see himself in a hospital. "what happened? where am i ?" masons father asked. "you had a stroke and a seizure dad, you was unresponsive, caren called me right away". "mr keats we found a very high alcohol level in your system" the doctor says. "have you been drinking dad?.." mason says quickly after the doctor finishes. "what!? no i haven't drank since you were little, this can't be right doc".
"If you haven't drank any alcohol mr keats then why was the levels in your blood so high?" the doctors asked with a very serious look on his face. "i- idk, this is crazy i would never drink again, i swore to it, this isn't right, i didn't drink, all i remember was going to get my coffee in the morning an then for lunch i went to this restaurant and a waitress said he had a surprise drink from someone nice, then i went home an was eating an i woke up here" masons father says, looking for an answer.
If you didn't drink then what was the drink at the restaurant?" mason asked. "they said it was a special drink, but it was no alcohol" masons father replied. "i'm sorry mason but we're gonna have to get the cops involved, someone could've put that alcohol in his system. this is going to have to be an investigation now" the doctor says leaving the room.
The cops came in to talk ab the restaurant incident pretty quickly. "mr.keats? can you explain everything that happened after the restaurant please?" the officer says with a notepad in his hand.
